Re: The lag just wont go...

which video card and/or power supply would be the best for running bf2?

i just ran the test, everything passed except my video card. here i copied the results from that section: Video Card
    Minimum: 100% DirectX 9 compatible 128MB Direct3D Card (GeForce FX 5700+/Radeon 8500, 9500+)
You Have: NVIDIA GeForce 6150 LE () FAIL: Sorry, your video card does not meet this minimum requirement. Upgrade to a more powerful video card will make all your applications look better. Click the 'We Recommend' button to see some great options.
Video Card Features - Minimum attributes of your Video Card Video RAM: Required - 128 MB , You have - 64.0 MB

now im clicking on what video cards they recommend...

so the we recommend button wont work basically i need help finding a good video card that will support BF2

well i like mine, its a ati radeo x1650pro it has 512mb ram , but its pci-e, make sure you know what slots avaliable but IMO pci-e or agp slots are best.
dude i'd get minimum of 256mb card but thats my opinon.

oh & check ur PSU, should be a sticker on side of it tellin how many watts, if you get a soupy card especially you will need atleast 450W or greater .

      :salute:

You will have to open your PC tower and check the PSU & available slots. As far as the PSU is concerned, what matters maybe more than overall wattage is the performance on the +12V rail. High end cards will require at least 20A on that rail. Mid-range cards, which might be the best solution to you, should be fine with 18A. What video card is best will depend on your motherboard (most likely PCI-E, possibly AGP) and your budget.

An Nvidia 8600GT (currently $89 after rebate on newegg) would suffice.
The 7600GT would most likely do the trick as well and is available for AGP.
I kinda lost track of ATI/AMD cards, but the radeon X850 would probably be the minimum here and is available at discounted prices. Make sure you don't get a card made by Sapphire though, as they tend to die on you. The advantage of these mid-level cards is that they will let you play the game on high settings, but won't bust your budget and your PSU and cooling should be able to handle them.

usually a sliding tab or something on back or ends of the case that will open it.

no idonno if that solve ur poblem, did u do the system requirements? gets lotsa input on a new card, plenty of peep with that card on here

Re: The lag just wont go...

Most DELL cases are easy to open without any tools. I am not sure about your particular one, but when I fixed a friend's dell computer, there was a tab near the PSU that needed to be pushed in for the left (facing the computer) panel to pop/slide out. No force should be needed & you should be fine.

Make sure you DISCONNECT the power cord from the outlet or tower before opening it. Touch some metal part before you touch anything inside the tower or attempt to install/uninstall a video card.

Both a 8600GT and a 7600GT should play the game easily on all medium settings. In fact, I would expect them to run the game on all high settings. Read a lot of reviews of those cards & people seem to claim they run the game on all high settings. Just make sure you get the GT and not the GTS edition (think S = SLOW :) There is no difference between the 7600GT and the 8600GT except for directX 10 support.

FYI: I have a Radeon X700 which is much slower than the 7600GT and even I can play the game on all medium settings.

Ok i'll look up the 7600 GT and see if i can buy it. And...i might get some professional to install the new video card. I know, pathetic. :) unless the video card is right in there when i open it and the cover is easy to get back on... *edit* can anyone help me find this card on amazon or a similar site? i cant seem to find it on amazon...*edit again* is this it? http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-e-GeForce...0948761&sr=8-2

This card will work fine with my power source most likely? how do i check what kind of power source i have? (lol srry for all the questions)

You may want to check out www.newegg.com They are not always the cheapest, but seem to have the greatest selection. buy.com also has good deals, but hard to find stuff on there. Newegg has a rebate on the 7600GT I believe (just type 7600GT in the search box) $74.99 after rebate - better than Amazon. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130062

Make sure you buy the right card (PCI-E or AGP). PCI-E is most likely what you want, but check your system specs (e.g. google for your computer model and "PCI-E or PCI express")

I am with you on eBay. I used to love it, but with the recent flood of fake and otherwise questionable products, I'll never buy such stuff on eFraud again.

                          ++update++

OK, I just checked what your PC most likely looks like.
Is this the PC you have?

If so, you do have a PCI-Express slot, BUT you can only buy half-height (low profile) expansion cards which would significantly reduce the number of choices you have.

if your not sure you might outa get pro. but open up the box & just look, imean usually a cover jsut slides off, not sure where it is,just follow the monitor cord down & where it connects is it. if its not something that pops in a slot then its an onboard card. if thats so just look for your best slot -agp or pci-e and that is where you would want new card to snap in.

Sorry, meant to compare the GT and GS versions, where GT is faster than GS. The 7600GT and 8600GT are very comparable in performance. The hardware specs are almost the same & the computing power is equal. Theoretically, the 7600GT could even be negligibly faster due to its minimally higher pixel fill rate, core clock, and memory bandwidth.

It doesn't really matter in this post though, since he has a low profile case & these cards do not come in low profile editions as far as I know. His best bet for a low profile card will probably be a Radeon X1300 which is available with 256MB of onboard memory and a 128 bit memory interface.
