how do i find servers that dont lag?

ok well lag is very annoying, and since my computer is horrible even on lowest setting and i still lag...

ive only been able to find 3 servers where i dont lag, and they arent enough, i've noticed it doesnt have to do anything with the ping of the server or me. i Usaully have a 40-80 ping.

But how do i find servers that wont lag for me?

so if its not internet lag (ur ping), then it is probably stuttering caused by ur computer.

wat are ur computer specs?

Maybe it has to do something with your video card. What video card do you have?

Click 'ping' in the bf2 browser or go to mine.

Untill farquezy posts his specs and programs that he has running. We cant help him. I bet that he has an instant message program running and is trying to play BF2 on one of those $299 dollar specials from dell. If thats so all we can say is that we are suprised that he can even get 3 that are mostly lag free. I had to rework one of those, so BF2 would be lag free on most servers, is why I said that.

All jokes aside without the specs at least there is little that we can do to help him out. So what are your specs? What CPU, Video card, Ram, etc. do you have? . . . . . . .Red

i shoot for servers located close to me. the TBF2 match ran super smooth (my ping 28) probally because the server was a little over 100 miles away.

will my specs suck, and its prolly my computer, 512 ram, 1.2 cpu, thats all i know

i close all programs while playing BF2, well the ones i can.

And i mean how do i know these servers are closer to me?
also my computer is home made, my brothers friend made it 5 years ago....

well they usually say US or UK in their name. or East/west (for US' west and east coast)

but if u click on the server name once to refresh it, the ping that it shows is wat ur ping will be in the server.

but looking at ur specs, it is definately a problem of ram and well ur whole computer. what you should do first is go Start>run>"dxdiag" and then hit ok. and on the display tab, it should say waht video card you have and you should post that. but yeah. you not having enough ram will cause alot of stuttering and lag and u should be on all low settings. u need to upgrade sadly. there are a few guides that help too

hmm... I don't think that's nearly enough RAM to run BF2. I think that's the bare minimum, and the recommended is 1 gig +.

^^^agree, farquezy you need a whole new pewter & im not bein a smartarse just a fact if you want to play bf2

good suggestions above, but i'd add one thing, go on server with low amount of peep like less than 10, less action computer has to draw the better the comp performance.

all tho if you did upgrade your system. example (sumthing like my system .. q6600 2 gig ram 8800gtx.. you will not notice better performence on the net ..as the game is screewd and its full of bugs.dont upgrade just to play bf2. its still gona piss you off..

bf2 has its share of troubles, but IMO i dont think its not worth playing, or upgrading to play, matter fact i think the mor eyou upgrade the less bugs, thats been my experience, i had more trouble before i upgraded my ram & my psu, except for punk buster messin up (btw mine hasnt give me any trouble in a week ) a few weeks ago i dont have any trouble with bf2.
but seriously i wouldnt up grade unless i only kept the case, i'd go whole new system if its 5yrs old :nod: just my opinion

yeah its totally worth upgrading to play. i went from an Fx 5200 to a 6800GT, and it rekindled my love for bf2. just the graphics change makes the game a whole new game

ya getting a new computer from this very small company called defcon-5, the owner is building me a computer for more then 700$ less then what i found on Ava-direct(which was the cheapest i could find, getting help form people on forums) so im really happy.
