~ BF2 In Game, Black Spots?..

Hey All,

I recently just built my own pc, works brilliantly well!

I have been having some in-game problems, i will be flying a jet when as i dip towards the ground, lots of black patches will be moving accross the floor as i fly...

i persume i have a graphic setting wrong but i need opinions..

If i was to pull up its fine!?

Im running everything on HIGH with a XFX 8800 GTS, so the card can easily handle it!

Anyone know how i can resolve this problem!

All system specs are in Sig!

Try lowering it to medium and see if it still happens, might be over-heating like mine does.

yeah 8800's run very hot so could be overheating

Doubt its overheating system runs at 27c and around 35c when playing the game, but i will try!

Any other ideas?

Just lower the settings and should work besides the infamous un-install/reinstall crap lol

i would have also said it mite be overheating , but if ur really certain its not...it coud also be just the game. sometimes textures at long distances can flicker black, but thats prob not ur problem

Yeah what the "system" temps are is nice, but that doesn't say what the card is running at. Unless you card came with monitoring software install this,

That will add temperature monitoring for your video card. Leave it running on the monitoring tab and the play the game for a bit, then check the temps and report back what the highest was.

just installing playing multiplayer for abit, im still a newb so i gotta start somewhere lol!

I dont know if this has anything to do with your problem, but when i used to turn on dynamic lighting and shadows, i'd get black spots in the terrain, but only at a certain angle.

I know my card in my lappy over-heats like no tommorrow causing artifcating, but that's another problem.

Overheating, or too much overclocking. Either way, the GPU memory system can't take it.


Update your drivers to the latest, 163.71.

I have also recently started seeing the black spots in-game - I have my settings down to default with a 8600gt.



I have updated my video card to the latest drivers without relief!

clear your bf2 cache (search) and make sure you don't have blankets of fuzzydusties on your gpu cooling hsf.
