Disappearing act...

Well,

My company is finally getting serious about its firewall/proxy setups. We are heavily regulated by the government and other organizations. And part of there policy is no Forum/BulletinBoards. It gets clumped in with no pr0n, dating, web mail, youtube, etc. Sure, you guys can suggest all sorts of ways around. Believe me, I know about anonymizers, VPNs out, and all sorts of tricks, but it is not worth my career.

So you'll will almost see very little to not-at-all of me. I know people come around and say "I am quitting BF2" and smarta**es reply back to "Why do people aways come in and say I'm leaving?" But, I feel like I am not leaving because I am tired of anyone, I am getting shut out. And I really never get online during the weekends and if I have time at night/mornings, I am going to game instead of reading on the forum.

So, for all those that I have had good times with. Take care, I'll be around, but might not be posting.

Hmm, a job that doesn't let you use their resources and pay you as you surf around on gaming sites/boards/dating/tubing etc. Go figure???? OMG!!! What does the corporate world think they are doing when they expect their employees to actually be doing their job?

Like I said in my original post, if I am going to get on at home, I am going to game. I don't have a lot of time in my life and surfing the web gets put low compared to all the other things I need to get done on a daily basis.

Thing is, I can do a lot of work while having the web open at work.

C'mon people lets be realistic. The average cubicle worker probably spends an hour a day accually working, the rest--ONLINE doing godknowswhat.

Its nothing new, nor is it rare.


Hell, I'm working right now. I work with the mentally ill and in a 8 hour day most of the time I get 3 hours off to do---this. Sad I know, but what else am I gonna do.

Actually, I am a network/systems engineer. So, I have dual monitors that watch for alert emails and a third way over to the side, and I have a lot of batch processes that run. I can sometimes do two-three things at once. I am far from a button pusher, but you don't take into account how often I walk away from my desk and work in labs and server rooms, then comeback and read a post and reply and then continue to monitor things going on...before walking back down to check something.

I work for a huge company (I think it is a fortune 25 or 50),so we have a lot of good processes so it is not like all my time is stuck to one screen.

My 800 hours of play spread out over 2 years of play and a couple hours here and there. It is not like I am a 3 star general. I have to study at home, take care of my wife, home, social life.....you know how it all goes as an adult.

So 4000 posts...yeah, but if you space that out over the time I have been active on the forum, posting during breaks, lunch, at home....I might average a several posts a day, that could range from one sentence to a term paper. But often it is just a quick "LOL, that is so lame that you think the MP7 is an poor weapon".

Thanks for all the good times. I will still be around and over at TotalQW...but it really will be peaking in. Besides, this gives me more time to read my tech documentation at work instead of at home! It is kinda a good in one way, just sucks I can't visit WWTDD anymore...or maybe even slashdot.
