Handshaking AGAIN - UGH

Is anyone else still getting kicked for the handshaking violation as soon as they join a server?

I was getting it a couple of weeks ago and went through the solution steps posted here and it started working again. Then, yesterday, it started happening again. I went through all of the solution steps posted on the EA solutions site at least 3 times and nothing helped. I did a reinstall and it started working. Played several hours last night.

I go to join a server this morning and I'm once again kicked for handshaking.

What the heck is going on and how can it work one minute and a few ours later not work?!? I sent a help request on the Even Balance site - hopefully they can help me.

Is this driving anyone else insane?

probably should go under support but if ur here, you have obviously updated PB manually yes? because that fixed it for me - i had it a few days ago.

The problem with the support section is that there's very little activity.

And as I said, I went through ALL of the solution steps at least three times to no effect.

1. Make sure you have the latest version of BF2 (check)
2. Delete and reinstall the Punkbuster folder and software (check)
3. Make sure that BF2 and Punkbuster are on yoru firewall's and antivirus software's allow lists (check)
4. make sure that Punkbuster is updated and operating properly (check)
5. Remove and reinstall BF2 (done and it worked for a while)

I was having a number of PB problems recently. First thing I did was go to Start > Run > Type services.msc and make sure PnkBsterA's status is started. After that I downloaded and ran pbsetup, updated, been fine ever since.

insane isnt the word, pissed is more like it, i have same exact prob. i went thru all that krap, worked great, yesterday i got "kicked handshake failed" i kept trying , even switching servers to no avail, i thought well i'll try this, i hit quit on my game, turned my modem off for a minute, turned it back on , loaded everything, boom im playing. hasnt happened since.

PB & EA SUCK pardon me but im pissssd:evil:

this worked for me recently:

1. Go to PB folder and delete everything except the PB.exe

2. run PB setup (.exe) and it will say "this is your first time blah blah"

3. find the game then SELECT (highlight) it before you press "Check for Updates" - many people dont do this.

4. close the window and start BF2

NOTE: Bf2 may take a while to start - ie. you may get a black screen for 1..maybe even 2 mintues...but i assure you the game has not frozen, just be patient, please!

after that it should start working again and you wont have to wait long, it would work as quick as it used to...i cannot say how long this will last for, but it fixed it for me...so what are you waiting for? close this browser window and go try it my friend!! =P

To get mine to work i actually had to enable windows Firewall on my network connection (i use a router). Once i enabled the firewall, i ran the PB test and had all green lights, whereas before it was asking me to "check" firewall.

Sounds dumb, but worth a try...

All I have to do to solve that problem is exit McAfee before I play.

It has also happened to me a few times last night, because i did a harddrive defrag, so all i did was re-install most recent patch, and bang, i got in fine, if not, do it manually.

Yeh i have the same problem, i have to turn my firewall off for punkbuster not to kick me for failed handshacking

just unblock PB if macafee has it blocked, IMO i aint dissabling my protection for some game, the consequences are terrible.
its PB, i get the handshaking & connection lost, & PB failed. some times jsut a few more tries & its fine, sometimes i have to quit the game, & restart it, has worked everytime after i done that.:salute:

yer i never disable my anti-virus program, theres never a need - the are designed to run with everything. only time it conflicts and gives me handshake problem is when it is using virus SCAN. but just wait for it to finish/cancel it then u can play hopefully (i can)

each his own, but i' wouldnt schedule scans, i'd do them manually, cause if u was in a good game rackin up & bam ur kicked cause ur virus pro was starting a scan. that really piss me if it was mine.
i do mine manually, but my firewall all that is up all time.

yeah, for me both are always "on", not necessarily "active" though but fore eg. scan is set to auto because manual for me, would pose the problem of me forgetting to do it, so ive scheduled mine to start at a time when i dont usually game and just have my computer on ;D
