it can and has been proven i read it on an old archive.

there is also a sound file (I cannot be bothered finding it) in the BF2 sound files called "Demotion.ogg" ive been told it sounds the "exact opposite" of the promotion music.

go find it! =P

Yea I've heard about the sound file your are talking about and I remember someone starting a topic about being demoted but I had forgotten what the conclusion of it was.

I'm 99% sure that even if you end a round with a negative score, your global score, and thus rank, does not go down.

i notice on my stast that i have like 80 suicides & i've wondered how that happens, if i fall & parachute don topen is it concidered suicide? or fall off cliff, something like that?

If you die from falling I know that you don't lose points, but I think that it does get recorded as a suicide.

A negative score for a round counts as a ZERO towards your global score.

You cannot get demoted even if there is a sound for it.

that is actually quite a reliefe to hear, hehe. id hate to risk a demotion.

btw if -ve scores dont count towards your global score, what is the point in them? - just make it hard for you to gain a positive score?

You still do, even when you switch it says " xxx is no more."

I'll try next time i play, cause I really don't think so. If I remember correctly I have often switched teams directly after joining the server to play with friends but still started with 0 points.

cause its the beggining of the round and you havent spawned yet!

If you finish lets say with -4, that doesn't decrease your global score by 4, but the negative points STILL AFFECT your global score if you finish the round above 0, because you could've had more points that what you've ended up with if it wasn't for the negative points.
And btw you can only get demoted from being a commander, or if EA demotes you for cheating.

yeah i thought EA did that before to someone for nade spamming as they got overwhelming amounts of TK's...what do you mean demoted from commander? =/

If you are in command and someone initiates mutiny, you can lose the commanding position if enough people vote against you.
