    i need help! look please.

ok i need some questions answering. firstly, does my crappy wireless internet connection affect online game play like lag, or does it only make those connection messages and the lag is actually from my computer? secondly, how do i find out all the info about my comp like the stuff i need to know if im gunna upgrade my comps ram or graphics card, ive tried the dell website, but its a heap of crap to navigate around and i cant find anywhere, where i can just put my serial number in and find info on my comp,

i also have a anoying problem with lag, when i first got the game, i could run the game on high. now, about 2-3 months later im lagging quite badly on medium, so there has been a decrease in performance, ive opened it up and cleaned the dust out, ive defragged, virus scanned, adware scanned, used programs like crap cleaner to get rid of crap, ive ended some proccesses that could have lagged my comp, ive updated punk buster. I dont want people sayin that i will need more ram, because it ran fine for those 2 months.

here are some of my specs( not sure how to access all the other stuff)

    ram-512mb
    geforce 7300 le
intel pentium D CPU 2.80 GHz
    wireless connection.

i know people will say after seeing those specs i need to upgrade but please explain why it was playing fine on high for those 2 and a half months, and just turned crap now.

    thanks.

your ram would *ideally* need upgrading to at least 1Gb in my opinion, preferably 2Gb if you can afford it. (but that is all your choice and if you think it wont make a diffrence then ignore what ppl say).

everything else seems fine to run the game to me - most likely its not a pc problem, it is usually a connection problem, wireless is slower than wire in most cases. but i have no idea why all of a sudden this is happening...oh i also heard that BF2 has trouble with systems running Duo processors - however mine runs fine on it...though some ppl have said it doesnt on theirs... try this

    1. Enter BF2
    2. ALT + TAB out of it
    3. Press CTRL + ALT + DEL
    4. Click the "Processes" Tab
    5. Find BF2.exe then right click on it
    6. Choose "Set Affinity" option and uncheck "CPU 1" - so that only "CPU 0" is ticked
    7. Close the Task Manager and go back in game and try it.

let me know if this works and i will give you a permenant way to keep the affinity set to this everytime you start the game - good luck

first i would download CPU-Z (just google it and ull find it easily) and then run it. u dont need to install anything. it just tells u wat u ahve in ur computer and on the Mainboard tab, under Graphics Interphace, itll tell u whether u have a AGP or PCI-Express card and let us know wat u got

i noe u dont want me saying this but u will need more ram. hoenslty i have no idea how u ran high settings with that computer. 7300 le = sucky video card. for bf2 u need at least a gig of ram. and ur cpu is fine for now. and what kind of wireless connection do u have?

Click Start > Run then type "dxdiag" into the box and hit "Enter/OK"

Print screen the results and post a picture, or copy the text.

With regards to wireless, I play on it and it seems fine, my average ping on BodyBags server is 26.

Wireless effects gameplay dramatically, its always better to run straight through an ethernet cable, i guarentee you, your connection will be much better. That being said i use wireless and my connection is fine.

Also dude, when you say "or does it only make those connection messages" do you mean there is a problem with your connection message every 60 seconds?

Surely it would depend on the quality of the signal between your wireless adaptor and your router before you'd see a drop off in connection speed/pings?

yeah but still wire is always going to be more dependable than wireless ^.^

wireless will soon be able to kick a lot of home wired routers ***.

802.11n is going to be 600 Mbps capable. Considering most people only have a 10/100 router, wireless will be 6 times faster. With these speeds, wiring your home will be almost pointless unless you've got a gigabit router. I don't need it because a lot of my downloading and transfer just goes out on WAN and not within the LAN. So I'm restricted to my 10 Mbps connection. But I got a feeling the bashing of wireless will go away in the next few years, and wiring up a lan party will be sooo much easier.

my 2 cents and crap I learn from cisco school.

*but in regards to the post, yeah man try getting another 512 of memory, you'll be suprised.
