  • Bad FPS

I have recently been experiencing some bad fps in games and was wondering what the cause was.

    My specs:
    AMD Athlon XP 2800+
    2 gigs of RAM
    Geforce 6600 256 with 94.24 drivers
    160GB HD
    400W PSU
settings on medium and aa off
fan is next to comp blowing in so no overheating

could be anything really..but wouldn't hurt to update your video drivers 163.44's are the latest/greatest.

nah i think the 94.24s are the best for hte older 6 series cards according to tweaksrus

have u done the standard virus/spyware/adware check and defragged ur harddrive?

            Re: Bad FPS

maybe uve been just lucky in the past but 30-40fps sounds fine. my brother has pretty much the same system except with a 6600gt and he plays medium with about that same FPS. if this isnt normal, id try reinstalling ur drivers

              Re: Bad FPS

I could never go back to playing BF2 without at least 2 gigs of ram and a 6800Ultra card.. anything less of a card will give you video lag and anything less than 2gigs will slow your load time down to the point it gets annoying.

I've tested this game with every card from the 5xxxFX cards and dual cards (sli and crossfire) and up to the present 8800GTX..

I have nearly the same rig.
                Pentium D925 3Ghz
                GeForce 6600GT 256MB
                1 Gig RAM

My graphic settings are low except for effects, geometry and something I can't remember right now, these are set to medium. View distance 100%.
Gimmicks (AA, lighting, shadows) turned off or set on low.

I only get like 60FPS with these settings.
Recording with Fraps lowers it to 25-35, no matter what I do.

                  Re: Bad FPS

Well I did indeed install the latest drivers and seemed to have received better fps all over. My stuttering has been downsized as well, dunno if it was new drivers or something else. O and btw how much is a 6800 agp card nowadays?

a 6800gt goes for about $85-$100 depending on where you look. i would go with the above offer and get a x1950GT or something better. i have a 6800gt and it cant really handle all high settings unless u tweak ur comp a lot. to be honest, my 6800gt is a bit disappointing since i cnt really play any of the new games or oldish new games at high settings.

Is that enough for that card?
