Is it worth buying [for PC NOT XBox].

I seen it on the shelves, but do you NEED an XBox live account to play? Or can you just pop it in and play online like BF 2 or sumthing?

You need at least a free (silver) Live account, and a paid (gold) account to use many features like VOIP, special dedicated servers, etc.

No, you do not need to create an XBox Live account to just "pop in the CD and play the game." You do need an account to play MP, of course, but that's obvious and goes without saying.

For SP, you pop in the CD, install the game, activate it just like you do Windows (stupid Microsoft... all their games require this now), and then when you are presented with the screen to create your account, just accept the defaults. Just like in BF2, a local, off-line account will be created.

That's it. You're now free to play the boring game. Of course, since this is a piss-poor PC port, it'll likely crash at some point, and you'll quickly discover that none of your "save points" were actually saved. :evil:

I eventually just uninstalled the game when I was probably about 2/3 through with it because 80% of the time you play as the Arbiter (or whatever the alien guy is called) and not as Master Chief. I mean, I was thinking, "WTF is this? I want to play as Master Chief, damnit!"

Actually, rereading Delta's query, it's looks like I was in the wrong by giving him too much credit--I should have known better. :laugh: Apparently, he was asking about MP. :wall: Of course you need to create an account, you nitwit. :laugh: What do you mean "play online like BF2?" You have to create an account for BF2, too, you know.

I think Halo is the most over-rated game EVER. It's a generic Sci-Fi FPS, what's so great? MP. That's about it, boring. In that case BF 2 is better IMO.

Halo 2 on the X-Box is fun, mostly when you're just playing split-screen with your friends. Online isn't that great though. Campaign was fun, but not long-lived.
