Before you read: the stuff inside the lines of stars are the important things, stuff outside that isn't the important bits for you to read!
In my little "article" I am writing we'll be discussing my favorite kit, assault. This guide will cover tactics, tips and strategies
to help improve your gameplay, and you and your teams chance to win. First of all I will tell you now that if you ever become good with assault
like I have you'll definetly notice how much better you'll feel after the end of the round at the top ahead of all those medics and supports.
First, although I don't feel this is nessecary we are going to cover the weapons the assault kit can use.
For the USMC stock, you're given my personal favorite, the M16A2 attached with a grenade launcher. The m16 is MUCH more accurate
than the other assault weapons after you get a bit of practice with it. Its ideal for people who like to keep your enemy at a distance but still
can fight up front too.
For the MEC stock, you get the AK101, this weapon is MUCH more powerful than the m16 but much less accurate so it is ideal for being right
in the thick of it, it also comes with a grenade launcher (Now to mention it ALL the stock weapons for each army do, so I won't mention this again)
For Chineser(PLA) stock you're given the AK-47, which is arguably the BEST assault kit rifle in the game, VERY accurate and VERY powerful along with the fact that its
automatic makes this weapon perfect for mid-range to upfront fighting.
Moving onto the unlocks.
The G3, this gun is THE most powerful gun for the assault kit, VERY accurate at pretty much every range automatic this gun
is devastating in the hands of an experienced user. Sadly, this gun lacks a grenade launcher and only has 20 shots to a clip,
therefor making it quite a hassle if you are the trigger-happy type. [IMG]http://www.online-gaming-forums.com/images/bf2-unlocks/g3assaultweapon9kw.jpg[/IMG}
The F2000, this gun is the special forces unlock. The F2000 is a fairly accurate automatic gun and is reliable in pretty much any
up-front situation, unfortunetly its lacking in long range combat. But it DOES pack flashbangs, infact it is the only unlock
in the game that does and they are VERY useful, I will cover these in the equipment part of my guide.
Before we go on I am going to say that quite a bit of this advice applies to everyone.
Equipment:
Smoke nades;
The M16,G3,AK101, and AK47 all have smoke grenades, these grenades have few uses in most situations due to their small length and radius
so you don't see many of them on the battlefield. On close corridors and open fields these smoke grenades can actually be lifesavers,
a good example would be on Jalaba, where in the initial rush (on an IO server anyways) you make it to the largest outcrop of rocks
and cannot make it from the stretch to the sandbags at the outpost, this is when the smoke grenades become handy, toss yours out,
wait till it deploys and charge out, 8/10 you'll make it across because the space is small enough for the smoke grenades to be effective.
In close corridors such as the alleys of Sharqi you can toss these out and close the space between you and the enemy with less
gunfire to worry about, I've struck the kill lottery quite a few times thanks to these handy smoke grenades.
The flashbang;
Being unique to the F2000 these flashbangs are like the smoke grenade in the fact that you don't see them much on the battlefield.
This is because they take a long time to throw, a long time to deploy and you often flashbang your self if your not careful.
But these babies are insanely useful in a combat situation, ESPECIALLY on alleyway fights like Sharqi/Karkand. Toss one of these
flashnades into the enemy area and time it so you blitz in so your hitting them JUST as they're blinded, it works more often than not
and if your like me and still love to get up close and dirty you can take out your knife and get up in em and carve em up while they're blinded, WARNING!
THIS IS NOT ADVISABLE ON KARKAND, I say this because 90% of the time some sniper has tossed his claymores down and you'll die trying
to knife them.
The grenade; if you don't understand what these do you shouldn't be reading this guide.
Your pistol;
The pistol is yet another one of the under-appreciated weapons in Bf2, this weapon I use almost as much as I use my main gun, oftentimes you're fighting more than one people or you don't have a chance to reload and your enemy is too far away to use the knife so you take out your pistol and strafe left and right, it'll take practice but this pistol is GREAT for taking out those pesky bunnyhoppers who attack you after your other weapons are out of ammo!
************************************************** ********************
The knife;
Ahhh, the knife, my favorite method of killing on the battlefield. This is one of the most underappreciated weapons in the game
but if you become good with it and master a few manuvers it can save your life over and over. This is most useful when fighting players
who you know tend to LAY DOWN ALOT, the largest group of players who do this are support but you'll see many other kits doing this aswell.
If you come around the corner and theres a support in your face, chances are he'll lay down, whip out your knife and jump over his body and crouch
to knife him, DO NOT LAY DOWN! If you lay down you won't be able to escape him in time if you're knife doesn't kill him on the first stab.
If you stab him and he doesnt die jump up again, since your only crouching you'll be able to jump and get behind him again. The principle is
the same with other kits only they will most likely bunny hop quite a bit before laying down to light you up. If they do this jump with them
and when they lay down DIVE ONTOP OF THOSE MOFOS AND CARVE HIM LIKE A THANKSGIVING TURKEY.
The grenade launcher;
The grenade launcher is my second favored method of killing, only knifing someone brings greater satisfaction on the battlefield than
launching the grenade launcher 3 blocks down and popping someone as they try to escape. Although it is very hard to explain how to use the GL
efficently I'll explain the important basics, after that it is just practicing to get a feel for your shooting. With the grenade launcher,
you can actually bounce the shots off many objects and AROUND the corners, this is especially effective on Sharqi, Mashtur and anywhere
with staircases (warning, staircases are VERY bad for GL's oftentimes so proceed with caution around them =P) If you don't understand
what im trying to say go on and just practice with the grenade launcher and it will make sense when you shoot certain objects and they bounce off.
Also, if you know there is a large group of enemies near you and the area is right you can get to a good position and hit them from above/from the side
and than sweep in to finish any survivers, the grenade launcher has a small kill radius but a reasonably high damage radius so
if you kill one and the others were close they'll have taken damage too so you can take care of them easier. Also, if the squad you attack has a medic with them
that is actually doing his job, kill one of the others and let the medic come back to rez the other guy, when he lays down and revives
the other guy shoot them with the grenade launcher right ontop of em and its an easy double kill! thats not even counting the kill from before!
The GL is also immensly effective for taking out snipers on the rooftops, people around the corner and shooting it at supports as they dolphin dive down.
So I cannot tell you enough, PRACTICE WITH AN ASSAULT GUN THAT HAS THE GL! IF YOU BECOME GOOD WITH THE GL YOU WILL GET x2 AS MANY KILLS EVERY ROUND!
Moving onto tactics and strategies along with your position in the squad your in. And yes, like everyone you should be in a squad at ALL times!
Even if you don't move with them this prevents team switches, increases your chances of being revived and you can spawn at the squad leader in the even the is where you want to be too! Although im saying you don't have to I believe you should try to stay in the squad leaders area most of the time, I don't mean up his ***, just near him so you can give support if nessecary.
If your in a squad with medics that do their job:
If you have a squad with smart medics than do everything in your power to take the shots and damage
they would take because they'll take care of you, be the first around corners, up stairs and into the frey, because its alot better to be revived by the medic
than having to pick up your medics kit and reviving him and the squad because you let everyone else charge first. Besides, about half the time there aren't claymores/people waiting and you get good kills that the other squadmembers would have gotten otherwise.
If your alone/don't have a medic with you: If you are alone (like I am more often than not -_-) It is not as hard as some people would think to survive
without a medic, just anticipate where there are most likely going to be claymores/traps and simply go along paths that are rarely traveled.
When you kill a medic, pick up his kit, heal your self and throw down the rest of his kits for later use before picking up your kit again. If
you kill a sniper and the situation allows it ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS check his body for claymores, if he has any stick them at a point where you can retreat to for safety so if theres too many you can retreat to the spot and let the clayomres take out anyone bold enough to come after you.
If you kill a support do like you did with the medic and sniper, get his supplies for later and restock on your grenade launcher shots.
And don't worry about keeping your ammo supplies high with your grenade launcher, you can resupply often enough so use your GL as much as you can against the enemy, infact I advise you go around corners and into battles with your grenade launcher out, as it provides for a quick kill
and way into the defenses for your squad.
If you are playing squad leader than stay at the front of the squad when your in battle and moving and if you are moving to capture a point
hang back a bit till its about to go grey so you can utilize your grenade launcher against any snipers who hope to dive in and toss down their gaymores to kill you all.
If you are in an area for a long time such as defending GET ON TOP OF A BUILDING, its MUCH safer ontop of a building as a spawnpoint for your squad
AND you can a much better range and angle for you to use your grenade launcher. You may not believe how useful the grenade launcher is now but I promise you
if you use it and get good with it like I have you're stats every round will be twice as good and you're team will thank you for it.

I hope my guide was helpful to you guys, cya on the battlefield!
PS: I apologize for the crappy formating and such! I wrote this in wordpad and it is gay T.T
