Video Driver Hack????

So, I hit my brother up on msn lastnight to see if he wants to frag a little. We ussually start a voice convo and then go into the same server. But he tells me lastnight he cant. I ask why. He says he got a GUID ban for a Video Driver Hack. I asked what the hell he did? Nothing. Swears up and down he has done nothing to his game. Me believe? Well, hes a college student. Who knows what kind of **** he gets into.

So, my question is this. What is it. What is a Video Driver Hack? Does he have hacks on his computer? Or is it something with a video driver or some graphics crap of his? It kinda pisses me off cause that used to be my damn bf cd that he has but I gave it to him when I bought the expanded with SF. I didnt make him pay me for it, but then again, I never thought he would get the damn thing banned. I had planned on selling it on ebay or so. Looks like that idea just went down the **** tube. Will pb lift this if it is appealed? Or am I gonna have to kick the **** out of my brother?

looks like he was hacking, never heard of a video driver hack, he get guid banned which i think is the cd key, and it will never be lifted unless he buys a new game, and obviously he was hacking

kinda like a anti-fog hack is what it sounds like to me... tell him to go out spend 10$ and get another game and this time stay away from them.

sooo..what IS a vidoe driver hack..


wait i THINK i know....Bf2 and other games are specially rigged not to work with certain video cards because of deals made with the video card companies....however there are hacks to make the game play with these cards, which totally circumvents EAs deal.

man the internet has more crime and any other place in the world.

wait i THINK i know....Bf2 and other games are specially rigged not to work with certain video cards because of deals made with the video card companies....however there are hacks to make the game play with these cards, which totally circumvents EAs deal.

did you pull that out of your arse?all cards work if they have the power to work,the game might be optimzed for nvidia cards,but does that mean it wont play on ati,no it doesnt.

hard to tell at this point really since Punkbuster has screwed everyone with this last update to catch a few hackers vs the total players of the game.. I've seen about 300 new bans on MBL updates recently and some removed so looks like a lot of false positives and whatever else. Punkbuster needs to put it back the way it was and let the Server admins catch the rare majority which might be 1% of players that punkbuster alone can't catch.

Simplest, easiest solution is to go buy a new copy of the game with a new CD key. The GUID is tied to the CD key so he'll be able to play again.

Before he does that, he should probably figure out what caused the ban in the first place. Honestly, chances are he was cheating and doesn't want to admit it but every now and then a mistake gets made by PB. If it's a global GUID ban he needs to talk to www.evenbalance.com . If it's a ban from PsB or PBBans then he needs to appeal it at www.punksbusted.com or www.pbbans.com depending on which one has banned him.
