There are people out there who would strongly disagree with that statement.

Seeing how they look similar but the inner workings are very much different.

It's not about how they look but how they function. It's a fact that Kalashnikov and the rest of the Russian weapon designers borrowed many ideas from the Germans. Of course they used some of their own unique features but their weapons were based on the German weapons.

While that may be true. Mr. Kalashnikov would still have your balls for making that statement. Didn't you ever see the series about the history of the AK-47 and the tons of interviews they had of him explaining things. I forget the exact name of it.

It's only marginally better than the USMC (MP5) counterpart and significantly worse than the MEC's (PP-19) version.

The only reason it's better than the MP5 is because the MP5 takes almost as long as a Sniper Rifle to reload, which is a pain when you only get 30 bullets per magazine and a rate of fire as fast as a Rambo Chaingun without the accuracy or the power.

Well of course considering it's 60 years newer design. The point of this thread is not that type 85 is better, thank you all of you masters of the obvious pointing out that there are many guns that are better. The point of this thread is that type 85 in not that bad and still deserves a chance.

Anyway in this game type 85 does same damage and has same rate of fire as the rest of the AT submachine guns mp5, pp19 and p90. The accuracy is also identical to mp5 and pp19, with the p90 having better accuracy. The best thing about the type 85 is that people usually get pissed off if you kill them with it, just like with the engy's mp7.

Well where did you think my intel came from, I made it up? I must've watched it too, and I remember reading about it too. And don't get too upset ak lover, nobody is saying that Kalashnikov stole the gun, all they said is that he used the german gun as a base principle when making his guns. Of course he changed many things and made it unique.

Why in hell would you want to use a gun that does 19 damage in single shot mode? That's less than a frickin pistol.

The full auto combined with the high rate of fire is the whole point of using any of the sub machine guns vs. DAO-12 for example. Now there is no question that DAO is still more effective in close combat, but at least with sub machine gun you can hit targets in medium range too. Anyway when you get tired and bored of all the unlocks like I did, give the stock sub machine guns including the Type 85 a chance, they are not so bad after all.

The Type 85 is my second favorite stock SMG because it reloads the fastest out of the SMG's. All the SMG's are basically the same in BF2, except for minor differences (PP-19: 45 round mag, Type 85: fast reload, MP5: slow motion reload)

p90 is also very similar except for the slightly less deviation and the optical sights which make it more accurate. I like the simplicity of the mp7 and type 85 though, and the fact that they piss the people off when they get killed by them.
