Punkbuster is trash

Jesus Christ. Aside from the issue I am having to connect (on my first try to join a server it'll always fail), I am getting some random kicks from Punkbuster as "Handshake with PkbstrA.exe" failed or "Could not get heartbeat from PkbstrB.exe" or stupid things like that. Apparently, it is some issue caused by a recent update to PB, which some people did and told me they are now Crashing to desktop.

I am starting to believe this sh!t has something to do with the terrible hitreg I had lately. Not only me, but also some other people (chopper whores) I play with are missing TV's they never would, and they say the same thing. "OMFG I know the hitbox, no way I missed that shot". I thought it was only me. Now I see it is a widespread problem, why not blame PB?

And what the heck do we need PB for. It is worthless. I believe the number of hackers is increasing, not decreasing. Not rarely you'll run into a server and millions of vehicles will fall on your head. And I just saw minutes ago a guy using the name hack (modifying his own name to impersonate somebody else). Not to say about the aimbot-ers, no fog-ers and so on.

I hate punkbuster.

Yeah the update has pretty much ruined joining through Xfire with friends, since your connection will always fail the first time. Then you must join the server again to play...

I've been getting this too lately, but thankfully no PkbstrA.exe or kicking problems for me yet.

At least the cheat makers win, according to them, PB had to trim off a ****load of stuff to make the services work.

My PnkstrB refuses to start up all the time so i have about 50% chance to sucessfully join a server

That's the same problem I'm having. I go to services.msc and set PnkBstrB to "Start". Then about an hour later, it suddenly stops and disppears from the list (and from the processes list). I need to uninstall and install punkbuster EVERY time I want to play BF2. I don't get this problem in America's army, so it's just BF2's problem

Updating PB manually does absolutely nothing to this situation, btw

But yeah, the auto disconnect for first join attempt is pretty annoying. I also don't like seeing people get constantly kicked out of my server for one or the other service not working properly.

this latest PB problem has also trashed being able to connect from Qtracker (connect fails almost every time). luckily though, the Qtracker dev is looking heavily into this to see what the real problem is. Hopefully we will get an answer.

You sure you did it right? I got disconnected 6 times in a row before I updated because it could not complete the PunkbstA hand shakes and then as soon as I update the problem is completely gone. I tried it on multiple servers both times.

I bet you will cry like a ***** when every second person cheats with 3 year old hacks that would be taken care of by PB.

The last update was stupid- I`ll take a few hackers here and there than not being able to play at all.

I got my s*it fixes so no problems with BF2 and other games work fine.
