    Re: Ping help

Thank you all for your input on this problem, especially american dad. It turned out, that i had to make it so that windows no longer controls my wireless but d-link now does. This has fixed it, it has gotten a little slower but plays brilliantly. Thanks for all of your help!

Cheers mate, this thread is okay to be deleted. If anyone is having the same problem and can't fix it. I'd be happy to explain to you what worked for me. Once again thanks all for your help!

you can usually tell from the name of the server, if it's a .com server it's in the US, otherwise they generally have some indication in the name of the country.

I have a problem similar to this and it seemed for a while like there was no one else with it, Mcbeef did your ping used to be good/alot lower? And have you tested your speeds on speedtest.net?

Mine used to be good enough (1000kbps download, 700kbps upload, 37ms ping).

You said that the game seems to crash when you fly etc, that happens to me now most of the time, and my ping has gone up noticeably from what it was before (37ms) to around 200-300ms. My download/upload speeds have also decreased alot (300kbps download, 200kbps upload and 200ms ping), which is very annoying because i don't know what the problem is, i hope we find out. :shakehead

I am on a wireless connection too, if that helps.

Wait, don't delete lol - how do i switch it from windows controlling my wireless, to linksys controlling it in my case?

Try playing when all other computers are turned off, and if you still have high pings then we know the problem is somewhere else, but I doubt it.
If you have 1.18mb speed, divide it by 4 and you get 294kb per computer which is not enough to play bf2 online!!!
my max. download speed is about 1.20mb/s I can easily play BF2 when my brother is using the internet, and when my dad is using the internet. They're all connected to the same router, too. in fact, my brother and I can even play bf2 at the same time, on the same server, while my dad uses the internet and still maintain low pings.
