capping flag without being on UAV

Here's a new one for me. I decided to play Euro in order to get the medal for it. I was commanding on OSS as the round just started. I was on the Euro side, when I mistakenly placed the UAV over the first base outside the MEC main (64 player). I had meant to put it over the first base from our main to allow my team to see any opposition.

So anyway, I looked at the UAV and there were no blips, nor any sound. About 5 seconds after, the flag turns to MEC! I had the UAV centered over the flag, and I am not sure of the capture radius of that flag, but I can't see how someone could turn in, and not show up on UAV...

Any ideas?

SpecOp don't show under UAV if he is not moving.
