Hey need help installing new patch

"You have to little space on your harddrive to patch BF2(TM). You need at least 420MB on your Windows drive and at least 1670MB on your BF2 Drive."

Thats the error message when I try to install the patch. the only problem is,

    I have 159GB left on my (C: )

and 56.1GB left on my Sea Disk (K: ) where my BF2 stuff is located.

    Can someone help?

    thanks.

Re: Hey need help installing new patch

you definitely have enough space. I would either try a fix from this tech faq, or do a manual uninstall / reinstall of bf2. dont forget to back up your profile in /mydocs/bf2.

try reading through this tech FAQ, they have that problem listed.

    Problem - Not Enough Space
Cause - Need more space on your System Drive
Fix - The patches now require roughly 3GB of free space on your Hard-Drive, it will not usually look where Battlefield 2 is installed but on the drive where your operating system is installed.

But there's a workaround, (Important, Before changing the registry, read Warlord's Warnings just below the contents page at the top of this FAQ)

Open regedit.exe and search for this key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\ProgramFilesDir

It points to "C:\Program Files" by default. If you change the value to "E:\Program Files", the patch will look for 3000 MB free space on drive E instead of C.

So Change it to look on a Hard Drive that has enough space for the patch to run. After the patch is completed, change the registry key back to what it was before you edited it.

      Thanks,

      I tried that approach, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\ProgramFilesDir

but I got to the "current version" subfolder and there was no program files dir.

I also have all my installation cd's but i don't have the original pamphlet with the cd-key is there anyway to find it inside the game files?
