  • Installed ram, now freezes

    Hello i recently installed 2 1 GB sticks of PC3200 DDR DT RAM putting me up to 3 GB of RAM

    Soon after the installation i noticed the computer totally freezes randomly(seldom on the desktop but mostly when i play BF2 or anyother game) and locks up. On the desktop, ocasionally the screen goes black and everything locks up for a second or two then goes back to normal.

    What is causing this problem and how can i fix it?

    Specs:
    Processor: 1.80 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64
    256 kilobyte primary memory cache
    1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache

    Ram: 3072 Megabytes Installed Memory

    Slot 'A0' has 512 MB
    Slot 'A1' has 512 MB
    Slot 'A2' has 1024 MB
    Slot 'A3' has 1024 MB

    MOBO: Board: NF-CK804
    Bus Clock: 200 megahertz
    BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG 06/03/2005

    GPU:NVIDIA GeForce 6600

    80GB hard drive.

    make sure you set the voltages accordingly.

        check the little manual that came with the memory stick(s)it should tell you,thyen configure it in your bios to that voltage

            also is the ram that u purchased the correct hertz as the one u had already installed?????
            that happened to me....

              Are you running those in dual channel mode?

              Also, Athlons have major issues with 4 slots of RAM.
