Hello all, I've just recently purchased Battlefield 2 "The Complete Collection" so my brother and I can play together. But each time we try to join the same server, it let's one of us join but the other one gets an "invalid cd-key message. Any help to figure this out would be greatly appreciated!!

are you using a router? or pc to pc sharing internet?
i use a router and have freinds play over the net with me on same server and it works fine.
but from reading it seems to me you have both installed the same copy of the game, this will not work you need a cd-key each in order for this to work :)Comment

Re: Can't play on the same IP
Just to clarify things. We each have our own copy of Battlefield 2, each with their own unique CD Key. I am running through a Router, a D-Link DI-604. We are able to play in different servers at the same time but not the same server. Is thier specific settings I have to setup in order to play on the same server? Is Punkbusters causing this issue? Thanks in advance for all responses!Comment

Re: Can't play on the same IP
hmmm... weird, me and my brother can play on the same server at the same time. Try putting both computers in the DMZ of the router (De-militarized zone). That will help us rule out the hardware firewall being the problem.Comment

Re: Can't play on the same IP
This may help...I was getting an invalid CD key error and this fixed it for me.
If you have Battlefield 2
1. Click Start.
2. Go to Run.
3. Type regedit and hit OK button.
4. Click on plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
5. Click on plus sign next to SOFTWARE.
6. Double click on Electronic Arts folder.
7. Double click on EA Games folder.
8. Double click on Battlefield 2 folder.
9. Double click on ergc folder.
10. Data displayed will probably have x9392 only.
11. Right click on it and select Modify.
12. Type in x9392 and then your CD key.
note: don’t include hyphens.
Example: x9392(your Battlefield 2 CD key here)Comment

Re: Can't play on the same IP
Just a quick update on my status. For the last couple of days I haven't even been able to play Multiplayer whatsoever. Kept getting "server connection lost" then I would try it again and the damn game would shut itself off. I ended up doing every update that my PC needed, still to no avail. Then I checked out the Registry thanks to "virussnt". Mind you I never did what he/she said. I noticed to variances of Battlefield 2 in my registry. Hmm weird I thought!?!?
So to make a long story short I ended up uninstalling BF2 and removing all entries in the Registry. Reinstalled the game and now I can play Multiplayer again. Still haven't tried to connect to the same room as my brother though. Will let you know how that turns out.
Thanks for the help all!!!!
Update #2
Now my Bro and I can play on the same server.
Thanks againComment
