            Re: Bioshock Demo Live!

Played BioShock yesterday. I was anticipating a letdown because Im not really into the whole "fantasy" genre, and the game didnt let me down. Meaning, its still fantasy. The city and its background stories grabbed my attention though.

Its still clear to an experienced gamer, how cheap the game really is. But thats probably how many great games are build up (meaning, we found an idea, lets recreate the whole game around it).

The FPS part of the game is sadly no contest for the common titles. The story is rather good though. I found the first splicer to be interesting and after that they were all boring, because in the Demo, the first thing you learn is to "zap" and "hit". Its really that simple. You stun them on their run, hit them twice and move on. The minichoppers were ridiculous at best.

I did enjoy the first part of the game very much, the one where you swim to the entrance of the city. Thats damn well made, very mystical.

I dont understand the hype around BioShock at all. But I will play the game because its story has intriqued me.

Still, no match for RSV, not by a long shot. Clancy knows better.
Then again, I have never succumbed to the hype.

This is by far the best gaming experience I've had since playing Halo: CE when the Xbox launched in NA.

I don't think there's any possible way to fall for the 'hype' with this game. It deserves every ounce of it received.

Do you have the full game, stephensolfo?

If you enjoyed the fairly short demo you'll love the entire game. It's a masterpiece.

                        Re: Bioshock Demo Live!

I downloaded the demo last night and beat it in less than an hour. It may have been short and easy, but the game is really well made. I'm planning on getting it once the price drops a bit. (Current price is $60CAD at best buy).

and for those who asked if your PC can run it:
I played on all the settings on high and dx10 textures on. my specs are:
                        athlon 64 X2 dual-core 4000+ 2.1ghz
                        1GB RAM
                        geforce 8600GT
                        windows vista

got a pretty good frame rate

It runs well my rubbish rig. Anyone else notice the music playing before you enter the first bathysphere, love those kind of touches :)

the menu music? it was really creepy. I was scared at the part in the building when you first got out of the water and you go down the hallways and the lights turn on. I thought something was gonna jump out

I didn't understand the little cinematic part... did he hijack the plane or what?

I did... I beat the demo. Still didn't explain anything.

Btw, Dan, said those screenshots are from the demo... well how did you take them? Print screen doesn't work, and fraps isn't working on my demo for some reason. it works on bf2 and all my other games, though.
