If your as annoyed and disgusted as me by the heli-whores of BF2 who seem to think it takes skill to kill us ground-pounders here are a few survival tips. If you see the helicopter coming LAY DOWN FOR GODS SAKE DONT TRY TO RUN! I've survived countless helicopter attacks by simply laying down and letting the helicopters sweep by with their gunner spray while my team mates run around pointing themselves out. In my limited time in a heli-copter I can see that its not very easy to see people unless they are running around, especially in rocky mountainy terrain against people with the MEC uniform.

Next, if a helicopter seems to be favoring the spot your spawning switch spawns or stop spawning till he goes away or something. Because try as you might helicopters can be literally impossible to kill, humvees and vodniks can only gun them down if the helicopter is already smoking. It takes TWO fudging AT rockets to kill a helicopter, and they always run if they're paint is scratched, and the AA turrets that are meant to fight these things are a ****ing joke, you can hit a helicopter twice with the rockets which NEVER happens due to those over-powered flares (go and laugh XD) and the helicopter will still survive and fly away to rearm and repair. There is no chance to gun it down, you can die time and time again trying to nail that thing with your AT mine as they circle around getting easy as hell killls of you and all the people trying to do the same thing.

Next, if you HAVE to spawn at that point (due to wanting to fight/no other spawn points) than you usually have one small window of opportunity. This is when he is circling around, wait till they circle around a building/obstructed and than run like hell in the opposite direction, next they will sometimes switch course to go attack vechs like tanks/other helicopters, use that time to run as well.

Countless noobs that keep respawning at the top as spec ops, sniper, support, are going to hopelessly keep dying over and over, until they spawn as anti tank, there is no need to zoom in, just fire at, find the sweet spots where the gunner and or pilot can be killed, not hard, but getting the pilot is the funniest.

And those using the SAW, when you're flying in a chopper, and someone in a RIB is firing at you, look at the damage that it's actually doing.. those aren't the same as humvee guns.

when a heli whore is circleing a spawn area waiting for backup while he kills people, the best thing to do is stay out of his sight, the pilot wont look for anyone, just tanks and other vehicles, the gunner does all the searching, stay out of the front view of the heli and you should be safe. then just run the fk away, grab a tank and rip a shell into the cockpit of the heli.

Actually, I find I look for more new targets than my gunner, as he is typically focused on killing what he has already seen. Once the Circle of Death is engaged, looking for stray targets is pretty easy.

My advice is to lay down *behind* something and keep that object between you and the chopper. Simply laying down is not enough, as most of the uniforms stand out against the ground. I will try to find a tree and crawl around behind it as the chopper goes by. This works better for hiding from a chopper moving in a linear path.

Or, if buildings are nearby, get around the corner, wait until the chopper circles around the corner, then dart back around the same corner. It works better than trying to run all the way around the building.

Pilot sees more than the gunner, so pilot does more searching. Laying down will NOT help if it's even an average helicopter crew.

AA works fine... if you combine AA with humvees, or even catch the chopper off guard it is easy to kill helicopters... and the way you wrote that made it sound like you played too much sharqi and got raped one too many times (by the way you said mountains).. Plus there are only 4 AA's there, one that is useless... BUT the other 3 can shoot through the fog so I don't know what you're complaining about.. lol

Choppers are easy to kill if you really want to kill them.. if it is a map with jets.. well... they are like free kills.

It really takes actual teamwork to down chopper whores. Generally, you want at least one person manning a stinger, the other a Vodnik or whatever .50 you can find.
If you can get 2 .50s at them, they are DOWN. Nothing more. Just a concentrated stream of bullets at the glass of the cockpit will bring them down faster than they can react. Jump into a stinger to finish them off, in the rare chance they get away.

If it's on Wake, your best bets are the M95 and AT rockets. If enough people take M95 potshots (around 7) then you can down them very fast. No self-respecting chopper crew is getting hit by an AT rocket, forget about that. If they're stupid enough to do so, just lob a rocket at the windscreen, hopefully knocking the pilot out.

Either way, you will NOT survive for longer than a few seconds. Make the most of it.

Yes lol, even jet whores, playing on hazard wake island, my clanmate zoomed by in the jet shot down the chopper, I turned my tank turret, he was at a range of about 40-50m, i fired about 10m in front of him, boom! I nearly did something nasty in my pants.. I was trying to find out if they had battlerecorder, but i haven't seen it yet, I don't think they do and all I got is a screenshot at home pc of his carcass hitting the bunker at the airfield.

The thing is that it hardly ever is just a single chopper attacking you, there are usually tanks at the edge of battle, and infantry swarming the flag your near. If you stand still and lie prone, your bound to get l96a1'ed.

I usually try to run, but i always fail because there is no firing support on my team whatsoever. I always think "someone else will spawn anti-tank," but that is never the case. YOU have to spawn at, not anyone else.

No point in reading past that mark.

You my friend, are a total BF2 idiot.

Humvees and Vodniks mounted MG will tear helicopters apart in seconds.
And if you know how to aim an AT rocket, good chance you'll get an easy kill.

And yes, of course we run when our paint is scratched. It's the smart and reasonable thing to do. We can always come back and kill your ***.

Total helo-whore here. I too am pro with the chaingun, and if I see you, your chances of survival are near zero. Key there is, "if I see you". You can make it harder, but with no defense other than visual, I still think that basically, your dead. To survive, stay out of sight and behind cover, however, I can still get you with 'splash', even if I can't see you, but know your there. Often, I will shoot into buildings and get kills having not even seen anyone.

My training has been to shoot where the pilot aims me. Its the pilot that sets-up kills, I just pull the trigger. I will help spot targets when we are searching, but once found, I kill what he sees. So, if you are looking at the nose of the helo, most likely, he sees you. Move to new locations or better hiding places, when your looking at the tail.

Ok, so here's the best survival tip I can think of:

A helo pilot has two jobs, one to setup a gunner to get kills, and two, to keep the helo intact or alive, and keeping the the helo airborn takes priority over gunner kills. If you start taking away helo health with a .50 or one AT rocket, he's outa there. A good pilot will write-off one AT rocket as your lucky day, but he won't (shouldn't) give you the second chance to take him out. Getting killed by an Eryx or a SRAW, to a pilot, is downright embarassing, and I will give him a load, if he allows that to happen.

Helos are like a school bully, they usually kick assh, but one good pop in the nose, will send them off crying to mama.

Wait heli to release flares and only after that fire Stinger missiles :) However, good heli pilot/gunner will take nearby AA vehicles/stations out before node raping

Was gonna mention that. Machine gun on jeeps` (I call all BF2 ground transport vehicles jeeps :)) takes Heli's health very fast providing you hit them.


Also good tank drivers can take down helis not to mention jets

Well this works in infantry to ,but if your buddy is hit and dies hide on top of his body the split second that the gunner looks there and sees a dead body will save your life,just remember the bodies wont last to long.
