Hi. I´m new to the forums, so please forgive any gross errors. I did go thru all the tech support posts for any similar issues but I couldn´t find any.
Ever since I updated the drivers for my soundcard (SB Audigy SE 7.1 PCI) to the latest version (June 2007) I have been experiencing a very annoying issue with the voices in BF2. They kind of break up or stutter and sound very "tinny" and you can barely understand what they say. I do not mean VoIP, I play in single player against bots. I tried changing different settings in my sound card´s controls as well as changing the audio options in BF2 to no avail. Most other sounds seem OK, though the one when you click on buttons also sounds a bit "tinny". I tried a couple other games and MP3s and they all sound fine. I tried reinstalling the 1.41 patch in case some files were corrupt or something but still nothing. I have BF2 with the 1.41 patch, the Euro Force and Armored Fury booster packs, the Special Forces expansion pack and several mods (Allied Intent, Project Reality, Point of Existence and BF SP 64, and they all worked fine prior to the sound driver update).
I have Windows XP Home SP2, fully updated on a Core 2 Duo E6400 (2,13 Ghz, 2 Mb L2 cache), 2 Gb DDR2 RAM (Kingston at 667 Mhz), a GeForce 7950 GT with 512 Mbs PCI-e (with the ltest drivers) and the Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 PCI.
Is there any way to fix this other than to roll back to the previous drivers? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
