    Protection Error 103

I've tried to find a solution to this for over a week and I've seen nothing but dozens of similar complaints and misleading answers. I was refered here by someone who thinks that there is a solution available.

The error appears at the splash screen and crashes the game. It also affects C&C Generals: Zero Hour when I play it.

I've fixed the registry once and the games ran fine. Then I went to play them at a later time and they came up with the same error. I fixed the registry again and the errors still persist.

I'm running XP Service Pack 2, and I was able to play BF2 for at least three weeks before this stupid error.

I appreciate any real solutions that can be presented. Please don't copy and paste "solutions" that will end up crashing Windows.

Are you playing on an administrator account with correct NTFS security permissions? Right click C:\ or whatever your system partition is, go to security, and grant yourself full permissions to the entire drive.

I don't have security option when I right click C drive. There's a "Sharing and Security" submenu, but that's pretty much just for sharing.

This error is strange in the way that it randomly hits me. About half the time I try, BF2 will work, while not the other half.

Restart the PC in Safe Mode, log in as the Administrator account and do it from there (assign permissions to the account you're using for BF2).

If you're on XP Pro, you can simply go to Tools => Folder Options, in the second tab with the zillion checkboxes, scroll down and untick "Use Simple File Sharing". You can then do it from within Windows.

Strange, myabe Virus software E.g Norton or somthing is not letting Bf2 have access to what it needs resulting in Them clashing causing BF2 to crash
