I dont think they even had to be in it I think it counts when you kill them by causing a vehicle next to them to blow up.

Yea thats correct. As long as you see the vehicle name in the kill message when you kill someone then its a road kill. Like..

No you cannot use guns to do it. When I got my bronze/silver Transport Badge I realized that, you have to run them over or make it so that it is:

Adolf [killed] Hitler

I'm not so sure how to do it, I think it's like someone said: Blow up a vehicle while they're next to it.

Yeppers, that's why you can get road kills with stationary equipment like TOWs.

No. When you hit a vehicle and it starts to burn, but the enemy gets out and then it explodes. You actually destroy the vehicle, and the vehicle kills the enemy nearby, thus giving you credit as a "road kill".

So, if you are in a tank and shoot at a TOW with someone standing near it, the TOW will explode killing the enemy and giving you a "TOW Road Kill".
