    Thinking of BF2

Sorry, if posted in the wrong place - but I have searched the forum and didn't find what I was looking for.

    So a couple of questions if someone could take a moment to answer;

    1) is this game noob-friendly? I've been looking for something new lately and nothing seems to have caught my attention until I decided to revisit the reviews of BF2

    2) how bad are the hacks? I have read that people are trying to do something about it via their servers; punk-buster and streaming - so has there been any progress in that or is hacking too widespread with this game?

    3) is it mature-friendly? Im an ex-military member who simply enjoys gaming in my spare time - but what I don't enjoy is having to sit there and listen to some pubescent-Rambo. So are there some mature-minded, team-minded clans present in this game?

    4) how is community/support for this game: still going strong? I visited a few forums and things still seem alive and kicking for this game

    5) Assuming #1 -4 answers are to my liking: what expansions, packs, mods are recommended after I get my fet wet?

Well thats it folks, thanks in advance for any information you can give and sorry if I might have offended anyone by question #3 and please forgive any typos.

    1. Yes, stay away from the jets and helicopters until you've had enough practice (especially with the heli)

    2. Most people exaggerate. Cheaters are relatively rare. You will probably come across them a few times though.

    3. It's a game.

    4. Don't expect jack sh1t from the developers except maybe 2 year old buggy maps with adverts.

    5. Too comprehensive to list here.

      1) it depends on what servers you go to.

      2) The Hacks them selves arnt that bad, but the amount of hackers is on the rise.

3)YES there are many clans like that.

      4) EA doesn't respond Much anymore, but there are lots of web sites dedicated to bf2.

      5) Special Forces (For More Unlocks), Euro Forces For Armor, and Armored Fury (For A-10).

      Welcome To BF2, My Friend.

Coming into the game 2 years post it's release I'd have to say no, its not a particulary difficult game to get into but the skill gap, with all due respect, might be a bit off putting at first.

Haven't played BF2 "properly" for a few months but they weren't that bad at that point in time. Don't forget most of the time people cry hax is just someone being annoyed.

Varies from server to server, VOIP is rarely used as well as text chat to interaction between players is actually pretty rare.

Mod community is a live for sure, I think we've just seen the last part of support for BF2 in the shape of a new map, I wouldn't count on much more support from the developers.

Expansion packs wise Special Forces is worth a look in, a lot more infantry focussed combared to normal BF2. Mods wise your tastes may be suited to Project Reality because of your background but perhaps not, Points of Exsistence and Desert Conflict are definatly worth checking out also!

        Hope this helped you :)

It takes awhile to learn to be effective with all the guns and even longer for vehicles. Its still fun as a noob you will get better alot better within 10 horus of playing.

          No, not at all

Yes the clan is small and about half of the members were at one time or still are in the service. The rest are pretty mature people. Just try to avoid clans that have a server but with admins that whine too much.

The community is very well alive the game is still in Xfires top 10 played but Ea's support for the game is minimal/

none unless you join a clan or a team where you can play and they have Special forces. That game can be fun but its not worth buying unless you can play it with people that you know.

Also we have a scrim team for Tbf2. Its not a clan we just have scrims with other fan sites for Bf2 and pub (go on to a public server) from time to time.

            1) Yup, you can do whatever you want to be it taking pop shots from afar or or full assault so it's really up to you how you play.

            2) Honestly, i havent been in one server with a hacker/cheater present.

            3) Most definetly, there are even clans/guilds who allow only "teamplay" on servers, it's real good fun when you find the right squad.

            4) Very strong, more popular than it's latest incarnation to be honest, popular mods are Project Reality, Point of Existence and Sandbox

            5) I'd go for Special forces as it gives you some decent unlocks to use in the game, or you could give someone your details for your bf2 account ad get them to play a round for you, does the same trick.

Armoured fury is the best "expansion" as i find far more people/servers on it than Euro Force.

              1) There are many really good players out there so expect to get raped.

              2) Not as bad as many ppl say

              3) I guess it depends... But you should download Project Reality mod, i think it will be perfect for you

              4) If you have a problem then just post on this forum:)

              5) Special Forces (For extra unlocks) and like i said before Project Reality would be perfect for you:)
