Can I run BF2?

Hey, I'm new to the forum and I need some help:

I recently bought a Gateway GT5432


Basic specs:

Windows Vista

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Processor 5000+ 2.6 GHz

GeForce 6150SE 128MB shared video memory

3 GB RAM


I'm seriously considering picking up a copy of BF2, but I'd prefer not to drop the money unless I know the computer can handle it.

1st question: Will I be able to run BF2 on Vista?

2nd: Will a GeForce 6150SE be able to handle BF2?

Thats a pretty high end pc apart from the gfx card, so I reckon you'll be able to play it yeah, not on high settings though

If you are comfortable with changing your gpu to a 7600+ you should be able to go all high at 1024x12xx whatever resolution... Provided that doesn't take anymore power than you have to offer that is..

x1950 Pro for sure. Get the x1950GT and overclock it to x1950 Pro speeds.

Do make sure your mainboard has a pci-express x 16 slot upgrade or agp slot upgrade. Many store bought computers don't have expansion slots if the video is on board (like you said: shared memory system).

If you do have the slot, get the 7600 or something along those lines as they don't require too many amps on the 12V psu rails. Most likely your store bought computer isn't going to handle a big high end 400 dollar fancy-schmancy gfx card as it most likely hasn't got a V8 for a psu. The rest of your system is fine.

A 7600 gt PCI express costs less than 150 CDN. Don't start pulling out scary price tags in this simple post.

Besides, if he needs an AGP 7600 card, I will gladly offer him mine which runs perfectly fine and is only a year old by BFG. If he needs it, just PR me and we set it up so he doesn't have to pay as much because right now, it is not being used to its power extent at all!

if i were u , id download the Demo for BF2 and see how the game really runs on ur computer. the actual game will be a tiny bit more demanding since they added a few more stuff like flying UAV overhead, but yeah. give the demo a go.

i meant it as in, the 7600 is a low end card that most any psu could handle, and is not a big shiny graphics card... whatsoever.

The graphics card has a PCI-Express slot available so I think I'd be okay
