How do you add more servers?

Can anyone tell me how to add more servers or join a clan etc.
I can see the connect to IP box in the BF2 selection screen but what do i do? and how do i go about joining a server that charges $ ?
Also when i untick the same version box i get 2000+ more servers but i cant join them why not? ANY help please? Thanks.. :-)

theres absolutely no server that charges a player to play, you can freely join any server there is for bf2 through your browser or by typing in the ip address. most clan servers however are paid for on a "donation" basis. i think you may be confused because you dont have the newest patch installed so all servers are showing red on your end.

if its clan your looking to join and be part of a tight niched community you can always check the clan section of this forum or just visit the homepage of the server you play and enjoy the most. always make sure you join a community with people you already get along with or play well with so the server you visit the most is a good place to start if its a clan server.

You need to download the 1.41 patch.

Thanks for all advice i am downloading 1.41 patch now..i had the 1.4 patch but i guess all the other servers had updated already.
PS Patch loaded.. 2000+ new servers now thanks for all help
PPS> My friend updated his patch as well but he only got 900+ servers (with exactly the same filters ticked) dont know why...I suggested he reload the game and repatch again..

If you are looking to join a clan when you join a server most clans include a server message with their site and you can apply there (they may make you pitch in for the server.)
