card cant play on high???

Just got my new rig couple of days ago. AMD X2 5200, 160gig raptor hd, 2gig corsair ram, 500watt psu and a geforce 512mb 8600gt.

Problem is this card will only let me play on 800x600 @ 65hz with all settings on medium and aa off!!

If i try to up a setting to high or change the resolution it freezes after 10seconds in game, which means i gotta reboot by holding the power button!

My old amd64 with geforce 128mb 6800 played with better graphics settings! I dont think this cards faulty as it plays ms flightsim x on mostly high!

Oh an downloaded latest drivers and im playing on vista. Help me plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!

maybe its overheating.....check for artifacts

artifacts are visual anomalies...like a couple of discolored boxes across ur screen.

most likely the card or vista cuz vista has some pretty **** drivers

when you say latest..which are they? Some work better than others on some systems even if they are older too btw.
