My BF2 won't run on Vista?

I recently bought a new laptop that is extremely better than my desktop.

It's specs are

CPU - core 2 dual t7500 2.20ghz
GFX - 512mb 8600m gs
HDD - 2 x 200GB = 400GB
RAM = 2gig ddr2
RES = 1680x1050
OS = 32bit windows vista premium

i installed bf2, installed patch 1.41full, then go to run it, it opens, goes to a black screen, flashes, and closes.

is this a vista problem?
does bf2 even run on vista?
how do i fix this(run the game)?

change your res out of the game to 800-600 to start, then change it to something closer to your monitors support when inside.

oh and i've also tried running the game as an "administrator"

i saw that advice on another forum and it did not work for me.....:cry:

i think it maybe quicker to load XP on to your new laptop and you can bet your *** the game will run :)

It's your refresh rate. As said, switch your desktop resolution to 800x600@60Hz and it should load. Or, you can go to My Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default\Video.con and insert the following:

VideoSettings.setGeometryQuality 3
VideoSettings.setLightingQuality 3
VideoSettings.setDynamicLightingQuality 3
VideoSettings.setDynamicShadowsQuality 3
VideoSettings.setEffectsQuality 3
VideoSettings.setTextureQuality 3
VideoSettings.setTextureFilteringQuality 3
VideoSettings.setResolution 800x600@60Hz
VideoSettings.setAntialiasing 2Samples
VideoSettings.setViewDistanceScale 1
VideoSettings.setVideoOptionScheme 3

Make sure that is the only text in this video.con file, it should let you in. Also, in Display Properties => Advanced Button => Monitor Tab, you need to uncheck the "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" box temporarily, at least.

BF2 does run on vista

Try right click > run as administrator on the actual exe, this is what my mate needs to do to get it to run

I installed bf2, installed patch 1.41FULL, right clicked on bf2's exe, checked off the "Run as administrator" button, hit apply, hit ok, go to run, still doesnt work....

all my drivers are up to date, and my laptop is MORE than capable of running this game....

does anyone know anyway of helping me??????

btw this happens on bf2142 as well

That the new DX10 mobile GPX ?? Not to sure about them .

You need in the BF2.exe to right click RUN AS ADMINISTARTOR AND CLICK THE XP COMPATIBLE BOX AS WELL

BF2 didn't run on Vista for me. I went back to XP.
