Okay boys and girls

I have a very slow computer just able to run bf2 and I confess that I know nothing about how the computer works sad but I am old. I do know what a graphic card, processor is. So what I am asking you all is to build the best computer tower as this is the only part that is going to be upgrade with a best graphic card and prossor for just £500 or $1029 if I have worked it out right that can be able to cope with BF2 full with the graphic turn up and my internet work I am sticking to windows xp for the time

total = 365 w/out a new case or peripherals (can you recycle your case/cd/keyboard/monitor?) keep in mind:

1) if you have an old case w/poor cooling it may struggle to cool these components

2) there's no use buying a VERY nice system for gaming and using it w/a 15, 17, or...maybe 19" monitor. to take advantage of a fast gaming system, you need a good monitor to show you the money. :)

edit: and i forgot to include VAT, so we're pushing the limit of your budget with this build, but i think that's a good place to start.

If you can afford it, the P182 is an amazing case, very quiet, very very VERY well built (would last many many years), good air flow and nice size/looks.

CPU if you can afford it then fgo for the E6750 as Sniper said, if not then the E6450 will work fine.

GPU 8800 GTS 320MB, yes its expensive, but it will future proof you a lot more than the x1950xt. If you can afford that then you have 2 options, either the 8600 (which is DX10 compatible) or something cheaper like a 7600Gt, which will still play BF2 on all high, and that way you can save your money as you will want to upgrade later this yr or early next year to a DX10 card when you see all the games coming out.

RAM, you want some DDR2 677 at least, DDR2 800 would be nice, but thats still quite pricey. You dont need a huge 600W PSu for this, if you get the 8800 GTS then maybe a 550W, if not then a 500W should be fine, maybe for the x1950xt the 550 too, it is like yuck! when it comes to power consumption.

You could wait for the Antec P190. However, the current version costs £200+ because it comes with two PSU's, however its only a matter of time before they release a version with PSU's in.

Yea tbh im not a fan of the P190, i mean sure its bigger and has more fans, and thats great for cooling and the big 8800 cards, but you can fit them into the P180/182. The PSU's are very stupid, you have a 600W and a 550W PSU, the 600W powers everything except the HDD's and CD/DVD's. this means you have a 550W PSU powering stuff that will never need more than 50W? What a waste of power. If it comes with an option of not having a PSU in it, then maybe, but for how much more it costs ($550 vs 200) you can put a great PSU in the P182 and still have cash left over.
