    BF2 Crashes ODD

Ok so I just bought a new Laptop, HP Pavilion DV9500t.

    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) Dup CPU T7100 @1.80GHz 1.80GHz
    Memory(RAM): 2046MB
    Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS
    Realtek High Definition Audio
Disc drive just in case: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20L ATA DEVICE...Its one of those lightscribe CD drives or w.e

Anyways, I tried everything. EVEN running in compatibility with Windows XP but none of it worked. I have reinstalled it numerous times. like 3-4 times. Whenever I click the icon, or click play from the disc menu, It shows the splash screen (Battlefield 2) then the screen gos black. Flashes my desktop. Goes black. Then just shows my desktop and nothing. Ive tried clearing the BF2 cache in the my documents folder. I thought maybe it was the refresh rate? So I changed the 60Hz to 59Hz but still no luck. I'm at the point where Im pissed cause I have had this game for like 3 months and havent been able to play it.

SO PLEASE...If you can find me a solution, PLEASE, tell me. Thanks in advance.

I know that bf2 isnt compatible with a lot of integrated graphics chips. But, I'm not sure about those new 8000 chips they are putting in laptops now. So, that could be the problem.

It installed fine. But I will go double check. Ok I found a file called PATCH.ERR

Well, if bf2 doesn't like those graphics cards, then no, there isn't. But I'm not 100% sure it does or not. Maybe someone else would.

look at what you just pasted from that file...old file does not exist, thats your problem i'm guessing, maybe a fresh install of BF2 with a clean new patch update?

or as minicoop503 is saying the GFX card might be the problem but my card is like 3 years old and no game i play has a problem with it..

Yeah, but with his graphics card, I'm guessing its an integrated chip on the motherboard, because it's a laptop, which bf2 does not usually support.

                  Man life sucks. lol.
First, I accidentally bought the booster packs, not the actual BF2. SO I go buy BF2...desktop didnt support it. SO I wait 3-4 months for my laptop, and it doesnt support it. fxck. =\.
So does anyone know of ANY solutions?

                    Re: BF2 Crashes ODD

apart from sending the laptop back and asking for a better POS, not really anything..
all i can think is try to look on google for a similar problem to yours and find the fix, if the "fix" works, YAY!! if it doesnt, you're just unlucky

vista could just be ****ing with you...as all vista gamers will tell you windows loads the same games faster then vista does... does it just Crash to your desktop when loading? as thats what i had, just updating drivers for my gfx card and replacing my BF2.exe with a better one worked perfectly, maybe something is wrong with your disks? maybe they are for linux/mac lol

Do a complete uninstall. Reboot. Delete the Battlefield 2 folder in you Documents folder. Install BF2, not a xpack. Patch to 1.41 and see if it works. Be sure to run the programs as an administrator. Right click on executable, Run as admin.

Those files that you said don't exist, aren't they just the language files? Apart from the first one!

Also see if there are updated graphics drivers for your integrated video card, and also if there is an updated BIOS for your mobo. Even if its a new laptop, the mobo can be have older bios chips, and companies are makin new graphics drivers daily (or so it seems...lol)

                              Good luck!
