BF2 running choppy with Vista

Well, i haven't played bf2 in a about 6 months, but recently decided to install it again and play it. Only one difference, i now have vista on my machine. The problem is that no matter what setting i play on, my computer has horrible stuttering, even thoe my fps has a constant 60-80 fps on the top of my screen.

Specs:
E6600 C2D @ 2.8ghz, (i tryed it at stock too)
2GB XMS2 Corsair Ram
X1900 GT 256mb (catalyst 7.7 but also had other drivers)
Xfi extreme music (latest driver)
160 GB hard drive
19in 75 hz LCD 1280-1040

I have turned All background services off, changed all the drivers i could think of, and have got terrible performance. On XP on the same machine, i received 60-100 fps depending on the level. I think its vista because my fps seems steady like it was on xp but everything seems like its at 20 fps. i do get occasional times of smoothness, ironically in combat sometimes but not often.
I have pratically touched every option in the ATI toolbar, i just dont get it.

Any help would be appreciated, i cant roll back to XP unfortunately so please don't recommend that.

yes, vista is a performance hog. Since I dont have vista yet, have you tried disabling your page file?? might help

Whatever you do, DO NOT disable the pagefile. That is unless you really like getting out of memory error messages. Have a look through here,

Then don't offer opinions until you know what you are talking about. Might also be a good idea to read up on how Vista manages memory far better than XP ever did. And as for being a memory hog show me here,

Yep tried everything so far and nothing works. Keep going, btw i have already done most of the stuff in the guide already.

Try single-player mode. Report back with whatever. Also play on low pinged servers.

I think there's a huge problem with BF2 and Vista, and multiplayer mode. So many people, me included are getting ****ty framerates on MP mode.

i had the same problem.. ur gun was like jerking up and down when u ran right? well anyways try re installing ur drivers...it worked for me

Alright so i did that, and nothing... i cant play singleplayer either, it saids 75 fps but intense stuttering... im actually more pissed off at EA because of the $h|**y service they have given the community after 1.41, its ridiculous they just drop a game.
