    Punkbuster Lockup sound loop bug

    Hello,

I am after some technical support for BF2. The problem i am having is that everytime i join a server, i can play for about 10-30 seconds then it locks up, with the sound looping. I can still play single player mode without any problems. I have updated my video card drivers.

After searching the internet for a solution, i have come across many posts by people experiencing the same or similar problems. My problem is very cosistent, it happens every time. The computer locks up, sound looping, and never comes out of it, requiring a reset via the reset button on the case.

I tried joining a server without punkbuster, this was successful, no lock up at all, i was able to play without a hassle. So i figuered punkbuster was causing problems being updated. So i manually updated punkbuster via the website and then joined a punkbuster server and still experienced the EXACT same lock up, sound loop problem.

I have since tried restarting and joining server, re updating, restarting and joining server, audio switched off and joining server... All unsuccessfully.

    Any ideas/suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Tim

Well then it sounds liek an audio problem doesn't it? Try updating your sound card or reinstalling your mobo sound. If that does not work go into the sound settings of bf2 and switch that around.

Maybe its on hardware and it should be on softwarE? Just a thought until someone else knows.

I dont think so. But first off, how do i find out? I will try playing on another user name... but i cant right now, doing some work and a reboot right now would suck.

I have tried a full re install, and manual PB update, and then with the fresh install (BF2 version still and 1.00 or whatever the distributed version was) but i still get a lock up requiring a hard reboot.

Still need to get a chance to muck around with sound card drivers. Couple questions regarding that though... if i disable all in game sound, then play, if it still crashes, that eliminates sound card problem possibility right?

Otherwise, how do i go about updating drivers for on board sound card, i dont even know where to go looking for a driver for a sound card.
