Multiplayer freezes directly after "Join Game"

I have played on this system with no problem for some time. Pentium 4, gig of ram.

First of all only about 150 Servers load when I apply minimal filters. It allows me to connect, load the map, and then click "Join Game". For a brief moment I can see chat and hear radio commands, but it then tells me there is a problem with my connection.

What I have done:

Bypassed Windows firewall
Opened required ports on my router
made sure I have version 1.41

Does anyone know what the problem could be? I really miss playing.

have u done speed tests? maybe your line (dsl?) is going bad, they do that after a while, or even cable wire gets old. i'd call my ISP. but put that sucker under a good test. try playing another game that would be a good try. maybe ur modem needs changed out. could be lotsa things i guess

worse comes to worse, do complete uninstall & reinstall, that will usually fix any conflicts

Last night I did a ping test and it passed with flying colors. I double checked everything else too to no avail. Any helpers?
