Battle for the Bridge at Karkand
The following is a true story.
Karkand
Us Leading Elements vs Unknown MEC Defenders.
The USMC froces quickly raced ahead to secure the Hotel Control Point. As usual there was heavy resistance and nothing much happened other than everyone on both sides got blown up by grenades.
Obviously there's always a small group who go round the side and capture the Suburbs. Gamma squad, six men, me included. There was no resistance other than some guy mucking around with C4 so we shot him.
We had a sniper on point, a medic, an engineer, support, the squad leader was spec-ops and I was your everyday grunt. It was like the dream squad unless there were any tanks but we were playing infantry only.
After the Suburbs were secured we noticed that other USMC were spawning there and heading down to rear the hotel. Meanwhile we went to the train accident.
We captured the place in a few moments and the squad leader placed C4 on the barricade then blew it sky-high. We then headed along the bridge. And that's when the MEC Support soldier at the other end opened up.
We weren't even halfway across when everyone except me, the squad leader and the medic were dead. We took cover and fired occasional shots at him. The medic went down after about four seconds.
After a minute of stalemate the squad leader shot just in front of me so I turned to look. He then waved a grenade at me so I nodded my gun and pressed 4 for the grenade launcher.
I fired two shots, the first one fell short and the second was bang on target. By that point the rest of the squad had spawned so we continued on our way. down the bridge, saving our sprint for the other side.
Four seconds in and another support soldier hit us hard, killing everyone except the engineer and me. I wasn't particularly worried as the train wreck was near so I turned to look. MEC had swum across the river and taken it back so we were effectively surrounded.
The engineer began sprinting so I did the same, we were close to the other side when the bridge was blown apart by C4. My health was on its last bar and the engineer was dead. I turned to face the support soldier and he was dead so I grabbed his kit and ran off to capture the flags on that side with no resistance. My squad eventually showed up at my newly captured flags so we proceeded back to the bridge.
Me and the other support guy went to shoot at the MEC swimming across the river. We took them down without problems. We all regrouped at the bridge where the MEC had fixed it. We began shooting at them whilst they charged. They didn't bother to take cover or anything, just sprint. It was like a scene out of The Longest Day'.
After some time they managed to attack us in force and looking on the minimap I realised they controlled the Suburbs and Hotel again.
Things were looking bad as it was six of us against about twenty-five. Are only advantage was the length of the bridge. Our support soldier had wasted his ammo packs by chucking them on the ground so were were short on shots. Our squad leader then used his remaining shots to grab our attention. He took out a knife and stood up. We followed suit.
The MEC charged expecting to die whilst we ran past them waving our knives. About three of them fell before they turned around and shot at us. We all died.
