Battlefiled 2 help

I just reinstalled battlefield 2 after a year and it works but now and then it kind of laggs and the backgroud turns black leaving the buildings the normal colour its suppose to be. After that it turns black and the game gets out of it self. NEED HELP!!!!!!!!

Tried a re-install? Most likely will solve your problem.
