    Re: ping???

a ping is how long it took in miliseconds to send a packet from your computer to the server and back. to keep it lower make sure your connection is decent (above 2,000 KBPS). And then play on servers in your region that makes it less distance to travel. SOmetimes you might just get a ping spike which might of been why you got kicked if you have a good conection.

              Re: ping???

On some servers its just an excuse to boot you and nothing more.

With that said its, ping, the amount of time it takes one bit or bite, not sure, to go from your computer out to the server and return measured in Milli-seconds. Just so you know, it takes one thousand milli-seconds to make one second. The ping is shown in the server list, look at the title above each colum. Then during the game press the tab button its shown there also.

There are some things that increase your ping. Internet connection quality, internet traffic and the weather. You cant do anything about these but there are a few things that you can do something about. Such as running un-needed programs, instant message programs, music download programs, and video download programs. If you will turn off all the unnecessary, un-needed programs you can decreese your ping and increase your ability to score because most enemy players will appear, on your end, to be where they really are. Good Luck with your ping. . . . . . . . . . . . . .Red

to test ping, open the command window (start>run and type cmd in, then press ok)

                type ping servername
                or
                ping serverip

it will then send out some packets and report the findings

higher ping=more lag=less enjoyment in gameplay

Be sure to play on servers that are close to your location and the most important>>Have broadband connection

Even the smallest DSL (smallest I know is 512, I dont think they sell anything below that nowadays) connections will do nice for gaming :) The data moved by games is pretty small but there are differences with different ISPs. I used to have 1Mb connection but the ping was totally crazy, sometimes decent sometimes many seconds. :dead: Then changed ISP and had just 512 connection but ping was always good in servers close to me. Current 1Mb connection by the same provider never fails with ping.. so there is difference with ISPs quality :|:

                        Re: ping???

some days i get great connections and other days its just pointless to play at all cuz there's so much lag.
