Ping is everything.

recently i discovered how ping can EXTREMELY effect your performance. my internet service is ****, so sometimes my ping stays doubled for like a few days. i was playing kabooms kark, and my service was **** (80-100 ping), and i could not kill crap. it seemed that i shot the guy 34 times and they would not die.

then recently i had a ping of 30 and completely owned everyone with a few shots.

try singleplayer and see what i mean, to play in a ping-free environment. The enemies seem to die, and the hitboxes are perfect.

one time i was in a quebec server (i live in ontario) and the average ping was like 30, wheras mine was 50. Lets just say i got my *** handed to me.

My theory is that ping stands out more than skill, for the most part. people should learn to play in servers that are near where they live. if your going from 100 to 50 ping its a big difference, and bigger from 50-30.

i envy the ones with single digits pings .

Yep, I normally do better on servers where I have a ping of 30-50 or better.
When I play with my US Division clanmates I usually get a ping above 100 and I get owned.
When this happens I apply as commander, LOL

Hey now I have an excuse for sucking! My ping is never below 80. It is usually around 90-120. (Crappy low-end dsl is all that is available in my area).

But seriously, if I run into someone head on close quarters, no matter how fast I shoot or what I do, I die. And sometimes I die before the enemy even faces me (on my screen anyway).

What drives me crazy is being on a 64 man server, where most everyone is pinging under 50, and I'm in the 30s, and then there are two clowns from Hong Kong or Lower Ashawunga Village who are pinging 250+.

The whole server completely lags out, everybody's teleporting around, and it's impossible to hit anyone who's moving laterally, beyond muzzle contact distance.

If only the server owners would take a minute during set-up to auto-kick anyone over 150, (not to mention having some welcome message that isn't cut-off, misspelled and idiotic, or telling me the IP of the server I've already connected to) it would make all the difference to the playability for everyone involved.

Ping is certainly important but it's not everything. With a higher ping you should adjust your play style to be more conservative. Try to avoid heat-to-head confrontations and instead look for situations where you have the decided advantage.

i had an argument once with like 5 people on a server that claimed if tons of people had high (300+) pings on a sever it wouldnt affect anyone, i says totally that many high pings will affect everyone, why u guys think us at 30ping are skipping around, soon after i got kicked for teamkilling, i was also in first, and tk punish was off

If you cant kill anything with a ping of 80 then you are nto that good of a player or everyone else is just much better then you. I have a slow comp where loading a map can take 3-7 minutes and sometimes I get a Newtwork data coruption error and have to reload the map all over. and then I still get graphics lag at the begging of a round but I can easily play normaly with a ping up to 120. Above that I can play fine but I will probably lagg up a few times.

I don't think it affects infantry as much cause hitboxes are already ****ed up.

But as far as jets, ping has everything to do with it. If you have like a <15 ping, your missles will hit any jet any time.

I always have a 40-60 ping unless it is west coast then I get like 70-90.. but I see this all the time as far as jets.

Ping for me hasn't affected my gameplay at all. I usually play with a ping of 100 or lower and I can still get good rounds like 33-11 in infrantry only. The only time I get the "There is a problem with your connection" message is when my ping is around 30 and a few people have a ping of around 250+

well i only go on uk servers i get arround 15 to 25 ping it also helps to have a killer network card it reduces your ping and latencey.

Really man. Sometimes my connection screws up while I'm in game and in a jet, and I see that I can't hit sh1t, neither bombing nor by missle or cannon machine gun. It's just that jets and vehicles, which are my main targets, move so fast that high pings means to see them teleporting a hundred meters away.

No, ping is not everything. Ping and packet loss is everything :) Try playing with a ping of 20 and 20% packet loss

But sure, up to 40-50 is fine, 50-80 still playable but not so good. Anything above 80-100 is unplayable

I routinely play on 120+ ping servers.

The difference between 120 (Dallas) and 12 (London :)) is amazing.
