    Strange CPU usage issue

    Hey,

I seem to be having an issue with BF2 that after a while of playing (randomly it seems) my frame rate will drop will to around 1 or even less. When viewing the CPU usage of the game it drops to around 05% with the System Idle Process being top of the list (this is viewed on my second monitor when the game is active and in fullscreen btw).

Now this previously happened to me in the past but I have since refomatted my system twice and still have the same issues.

I have updated my drivers, running on XP with SP2 and all the updates. The only processes running other than BF2 are ZoneAlarm (tried with and without no difference), AVG Free, Messenger (also tried without and no difference), Windows Media Player and that's about it. Nothing else is consuming any large amount of RAM/CPU power.

My system specs are AMD FX55, 2gb RAM, 6800 ultra, 3x WD raptor etc, but they shouldn't be an issue as the game will start up fine and be ok for a few rounds normally. Then either after a map change or mid round it'll get bogged down.

Any help you guys could provide would be fantastic.
    Thanks in advance

See what is taking up your RAM. Add more columns to your task manager: Go processes->view->select columns. Check I/O reads and writes to see what is accessing your HDDs. Look for large numbers.
