    Frame rate issues

I generally get exceptional frame rates while playing BF2 and never really have any graphic problems. But for quite some time I've been having a rapid reduction in frame rates when an explosion occurs anywhere around me.

eg. Tanks shooting, grenades etc exploding or shooting around me.

    My Specs:

    Manufacturer:
    Acer
    Processor:
    Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.60GHz
    Memory:
    1022MB RAM
    Hard Drive:
    18 GB, 18 GB, 200 GB
    Video Card:
ATI MOBILITY RADEON 9600/9700 Series (Omega 3.8.330)
    Monitor:
    Generic Television
    Sound Card:
    Realtek AC97 Audio

I've got all the updated drivers available as well. Previously I have been able to play without any issues but this problem is occuring now for some reason. I can play other games with higher graphic requirements such as Quake 4, Half Life 2 and Call of Duty 2 with no problems at all.

I play with my graphics settings on the minimal possible requirements at 800x600.

I've checked the ea support forums and was unable to find a solution, I run know windows interface altering programs and always have minimal to no external processes running while playing.

I would appreciate any help or solutions to rectify this problem.

    Re: Frame rate issues

I had the same setup and trust me you cannot go higher than those settings. Battlefield 2 is a very demanding game unlike Quake 4, Call of Duty 2, etc. The programmers messed up on the programming and that is why even the most powerful pc's such as mine can't run it on high.

Sorry mate, I dont think most of us can help me in a situation like this unless you upgrade.

If it was working fine before then you might try deleting your cached shaders:

      \My Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache\

of course after you do that, when u run bf2 the next time you will have to wait for it to regenerate the shaders on map load.

delete shaders in bf2 profile 1st
then if that does not help you might want to roll back your graphics drivers instead of using the latests ones.

i was having graphics problems with the 99 nvidia driver set so i upgraded to the 168....got even worse....now i am back to the 91.4 and my system is happy
