  • Crashes to desktop when logging in

Right i installed this the other day and played offline fine, however when i went to play last night, it would just close itself with no error message while trying to log in. It says "contacting server" then closes.
I'm running vista ultimate 32bit, DEP is off, the shortcut is set to run as administrator, vista firewall is off but im behind a NAT.

    Any ideas?

    Vista 32bit ultimate
    Core 2 Duo E6600
    2gb ram
    X1950 pro 256

You need to reinstall the game again. Same thing happened to me but it was when i click "join game"

Do a clean manual uninstall by clicking on this link:

    Good luck pal.

Thanks for the help, i actually reinstalled it before you posted, it now logs in, but when i try to join a server it says my cd is invalid :s When i reinstalled it i didnt get rid of the registry stuff because i did it before you posted, would another uninstall+registry clean do it or is it something else? It is a legal copy and ive never played it online because i only got it the other day so im a bit confused.

Can you please post the error message because I think I have a idea of what you are talking about. If what I think is your problem then you dont have to uninstall or reinstall again. Just post the error message.

It's weird, i can get on some servers but some say 'You CD KEY is not valid' or i get told theres a problem with my connection. Never thought a game could be so much hassle to play

Re: Crashes to desktop when logging in

Piece of cake. I happened to me before. Just follow these steps:

            Click Start.
            Go to Run.
Type regedit and hit OK button.
Click on plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Click on plus sign next to SOFTWARE.
Double click on Electronic Arts folder.
Double click on EA Games folder.
Double click on Battlefield 2 folder.
            Double click on ergc folder.
Data displayed will probably have x9392 only.
Right click on it and select Modify.
Type in x9392 and then your CD key.
            note: don’t include hyphens.

Example: x9392(your Battlefield 2 CD key here)
If you have Battlefield 2: Special Forces

            Click Start.
            Go to Run.
Type regedit and hit OK button.
Click on plus sign next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE.
Click on plus sign next to SOFTWARE.
Double click on Electronic Arts folder.
Double click on EA Games folder.
Double click on Battlefield 2 folder.
            Double click on ergc folder.

Double click on Battlefield 2 Special Forces folder.

            note: don’t include hyphens.
note: do not use your Battlefield 2: Special Forces CD key.
Example: x9392(your Battlefield 2 CD key here)

This WILL solve your problem. Good luck mate.
