    BF2 will not startup

Hi, I've been playing BF2 for awhile now and just yesterday after I took a break from BF2 for awhile that day I decided to play again and when I double clicked the shortcut it loaded then the screen went black like always then went back to my desktop and did not load it. I tried a few more times same thing. I tried starting it directly from my Battlefield 2 folder, nothing. I uninstalled and reinstalled it and still the same thing.. any suggestions? I'm having BF2 withdrawls!

I'm open to any suggestions at all, I've tried anything I could think of and still the same problem.

Bump, I find it hard to believe i'm the only one that has this problem, is it a computer problem or a disc problem?

Check your anti-virus, it can sometimes conflict.

Also try running it in "windowed" mode.

In order to run in "Windowed" mode, find your BF2 shortcut (on your desktop or something), right click-->properties. On the "Target" line, after the quotes (should end in BF2.exe") space one over and add +fullscreen 0.
(To get back to full screen change the 0 to a 1 or delete the part you added).

see if that works. Otherwise, I'm not sure how to solve your problem.

Thank you very much for the response, I will try that but I'm afraid as I searched through the support forum that someone posted a very similar problem and it seemed to be a graphics card issue and I do have a rather weak graphics card so it might be crappin' out on me. Thank you again for the help. :)

I once had the exact same problem with my old x600, I had to reinstall bf TWICE to get it to work again.
Also, instead of clicking your desktop icon, remove your bf2 dvd from the drive, put it back it and let the autorun menu show up. Then, click the 'start bf2' tab from there and see what happens....

Yeah I only reinstalled BF2 once... I didn't patch it because I figured that wouldn't make a difference for startup... and yes after reinstalling it I did try putting the disc in and opening it from the autorun menu and same thing.

I'm on vacation right now so i'll work on it when i get back.
