500+Ping, at the end of the rope here

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is my last effort to try and get this game to work once again.

When I first bought this game, I had no problems at all with it, no lag, no connection, nothing. After a certain patch *god knows which one, its been so long* it couldnt play due to the fact I was getting 500+ pings. I could get in, but my hud would be so jittery you would get a headache from it and killing someone was near impossible. After a month of trying to get it to work, I gave up, but here I sit again, working on it. Here is what I done so far....

    Things I've tried:
    -Reinstalled the game....5 times
    -Reformated my computer....2 times
-Updated my Ram from 512MBs to 1.5Gbs
    -reinstalled my video card drivers
-used a ram booster...dont ask why, I was pratically trying voodoo at the time.
-Turned off all firewalls and directly hooked up to the cable modem.
-Ran off a server only 20 blocks away from where i lived *pinged a 300*
    -Updated Punkbuster

    System Specs:
    -3.2 GHz Intel pro.
    -1.5 GBs of Ram
-22 GBs of harddrive memory left*damn you porn*
    -Windows XP home edition
    -ATI Radeon X300 Series
    -Cable connection for internet
    -linksys router
-Games I am currently able: Battlefield 1942, Battlefield 2142, COD2, CS:S, Doom:3, Dawn Of War, and WoW all not having any connection trouble what so ever.

PLEASE! For the love of god someone help me, this problem is driving me insane.

Re: 500+Ping, at the end of the rope here

definitely turn off automatic updates (download them manually once a month) first, then try (briefly) turning off antivirus and firewall.

also, that's horrible graphics card for 3d gaming, but doesn't have anything to do with a high ping.

edit--and if you've really got that much shrimp (pr4wn) on your pc, your pc may be far too busy sending spam all over the world to let you get a decent ping.

scan it well, scan it twice with a couple of different virus/spyware detectors
