Weird lag issues

Hello,
I've had Bf2 since it came out pretty much, never had any troubles running at medium-high settings. After the 1.41 patch and Highway Tampa, I'm getting insanely ridiculous lag. I.e. Hold "w" to run, let go and I'll run for about 1.5 times the amount of time I held it for. So if I want to run 5m, I'll run 7.5 + depending on how laggy it is. This is not only online, so it can't be a connection issue, it's even worse in single player mode. This is also true with shooting, jumping, strafing, crouching etc.
I am running about 32 processes, memory shows ok usage. (I have 1gb)
I'd hate to think it's a video issue, I have a Radeon X1600 (512mb)
I even tried with video on low, and no difference.

try reinstalling bf2 and the patches but get the patch directly from ea.

I've heard a lot of people have had issues after installing the Tampa map. I know for me personally, my BF2 was running great on my settings (Medium to High) and after I installed the map, I'm getting huge performance issues. My ping is showing very low (<40-50) and things are "jumping" as well for me. Makes flying anything a huge gamble... many hillsides and trees have jumped out and got me because of this. Although my favorite servers have Tampa in their rotation, I can't deal with this crap. I'll uninstall it and move on to other servers.

I have that problem when using vista. With xp my pings are perfect but for some reason in vista my ping times always jump all over the place, from 50 to 400 back and forth but with xp its always under 100...

Have you checked your Speed? your ISP maybe a little slow for what ever reason, i'd check it, then make sure my computer wasnt full of spyware & stuff like that to slow it down.

Sorry for bumping the post, but I've been away.
Like I said, I was running 32 processes. My computer is always clean, I check it every couple days for viruses, spyware and all that crap. Like I said, it was worse in singleplayer than online.
Since the incident, I've reinstalled it and left it without any patches and it's working fine, once they come out with a new fix for it I'll upgrade.
Any other suggestions are welcome.
