Well after playing for a couple more days i absolutely LOVE this game! It's definitely a step up from Battlefield but i just love the variety of combat the game has. The game does have a variety, it's fast paced run and gun with an assault weapon if you want it to be, it's slow paced sniping if you want it to be, you can track down enemy vehicles with a titan tank, or dominate the humans with a strogg walker, or fly above enemy infantry in the sky with the strogg icarus and drop small bombs leaving them helpless, ect ect.
GDF:

Vehicles: They have very very minor bugs that i've found, (again this is still a beta) but overall they work fine and are loads of fun. Tank battles with strogg walkers are amazing, while using the strogg icarus to fly above the gdf and drop small bombs racking up kills is just as satisfying. I did try flying the 'Tormentor' (the strogg helo) and while you can't in fact go up extremely high, it's still fast enough to get out of harms way. It's very fast. While the gdf jeeps and 'huskies' (4 wheelers) get you to point a and point b in no time. Apcs are good for taking out enemy infantry, but not so great if you want to take out larger armor (such as a tank or walker). If vehicles are used correctly, the team doing so can rule the map.
Strogg walker:

Infantry combat + classes:
Each class has an extra perk, obviously, Snipers or 'Covert Ops' snipe from a far range (well.. obviously ha) and are able to disguise themselves as the their enemy, they also are needed to hack certain objectives, such as the sewer control systems, to win the game (for the gdf.) Snipers can disable enemy vehicles and deployables with an EMP grenade, and have smoke grenades. Field ops ressuply allies with ammo and are able to call in air strikes. Engineers repair vehicles, get rid of land mines ect. Medics can get rid of strogg spawn hosts plus heal and revive team mates. While soldiers is the teams backing force or, glue that sticks them togethor with force can use HE charges to get rid of objectives and are able to use rocket launchers and the GPMG (support gun) to take out vehicles and infantry.
What i also love is it seems hit detection is great, when you snipe somone you land the shot (other than say the terrible hit detection is battlefield, sniping in that game is alwase a 50% chance). Everything already seems well balanced, rocket launchers lock on well and take out vehicles, the walkers and tanks seem evenly matched, but we havn't exactly been able to try out the gdf helo to fight against the strogg helo so we still have to see there. Also, it'd be nice if the GDF had something like the Strogg icarus. But then again you see, the strogg don't have a jeeps or 4 wheelers.

Objectives + Spawn points:
Instead of flags, wich is what games like Battlefield uses, Quake wars has decided to go objectively (wich i like). You must advance in the map taking objectives to then take farther spawn points, also the strogg team is able to turn unconcious GDF into their own spawn point at their own delight . In order to take these objectives you'll usually have to get over obsticals such as gates using charges and then defend them, this brings the team togethor to achieve a common goal.
charges placed:

gdf human turned spawn point:

Conclusion: After playing both sides, strogg and GDF, you really get the gist of Quake wars, the game has so much for you to do, and i believe the better retail maps to come will offer even more new objective based experiences, new different terrain to use vehicles to fight on.. just more everything. I can't wait! I didn't quiet like the Beta map at first, as everyone does, but after you play for awhile you really start to love it for what it is, a team map, you must work as a team and once you do you have so much more fun. That's what think Quake wars is at it's core, a team based mutliplayer shooter, on the battlefield.
