Crash to Desktop after Server Selection

I have a dual boot xp/vista machine.

Every time i try to play the game in either OS I ALWAYS havbe BF2Crash to Desktop after Server Selection. This is very annoying! I can't play!

My computer is a
^P4 3GHz 530
^Mobo: D915GAV
^Video: 6600gt 512mb
^Hard drives: 2 320GB Seagates
^Sound: X-fi eXtreme Music

- I tried in low graphics settings with audio settings down to... same problem.
- I cleaned the registry, defraged the hard drives, and sped/cleaned up my computer.
- When in vista i've tried running the game in compatibility mode, but with only the same problem over agian!

ANY SUGGESTIONS???

Uhh, maybe reinstall and apply the 1.4 patch again? Heck if you tried all those other things may as well try this too.

no obvious reason you should ctd.

none of your components are underpowered for a 2 year old game.

therefore, my tentative and certainly not credible in any way recommendation would be a reinstall of bf2, windows or windows me,too (vista) or all three.

proly not vry helpful, but a dual-boot system w/ctd's is far from the ordinary.
