I've done some searching, but none of the topics I've seen seem to address this problem (sorry if I missed it somewhere).
I used to run XP, and Battlefield 2 ran just fine, but I recently got Vista and I'm having troubles.
When I start Battlefield 2, the splash screen comes up and the screen goes black, (like normal) but when the login screen is supposed to come up, all I get are weird lines going across my screen (but all the sounds work). I put my card in a computer still running XP just to make sure it didn't die on me, and my card still works (it even played BF2 on the computer just fine).
I took a video of the problem, since it's easier to show than explain.
(It's kind of hard to see at first, but you will get the gist of it by the end. Also, normally I don't have the startup movies playing, but I had forgotten to put the +restart 1 in the shortcut.)
My specs:
AMD 64 4200+ X2
2 GB pc3200 RAM
7900GT
Vista (32 Bit)
I've tried the 158.18 and 158.24 drivers, but neither change the problem in any way. I have tried running in XP service pack 2 compatibility mode and as an administrator. I've reinstalled BF2 three times now, and redownloaded the patch each time just in case. Earlier I reformatted, just to make sure, but still nothing.
I only know one solution, but it doesn't always work. When the game starts up, I wait for the lines to go crazy, I hit ctrl +alt + del, the lines turn green and white, then I hit ctrl + shift + esc. This makes the screen normal, but as I said, it doesn't always work, plus the few times I've loaded the game, the some of the graphics are messed up for the resolution (eg, icons way too big.)
Any help?
