Recording desktop

Hi
Im wondering how to record no in-game videos with FRAPS.
Those (like MANIAC.V) who make tutorials on photoshop or anything (you can see their action on the screen), how do I do this with FRAPS ?

I try to lauch fraps and press the movie record button but it doesnt work...

to record desktop you'll need something like camstudio, I think theres a trial version out there somewhere


if your fraps wont let you record in game, just assign a new button to it and try again, that happens to me sometimes

fraps ingame is ok... but you mean I can't use fraps to record desktop ? But why Maniac~VVV~ uses fraps to record his vegas tutorials ?

Fraps in game, especially ig you dont want to pay 37 quid for the full version and are stuck with the trial version is rubbish.

However, i have found a game recorder, that lets you record a GB of footage with sound and its free to download. It also, unlike FRAPS DOES NOT lag your computer and cause your game to mess up.

Maniac is using Camtasia recorder ... http://www.techsmith.com/

FRAPS does not record desktop, only in game or video players.
