We all are now painfully aware that whenever anyone posts anything about trouble with stats servers, or the ins and outs of the BF 2 stats system, the post is SPAMMED by the usual group of "wee don' neeed no steenking stats" brats. As usual, the more logical and mentally developed people think to themselves, "Geez. If you don't need stats, why are you bothering to open a post with the word 'stats' in the title?" And, of course, and as usual, the stat post SPAMMERS have no good answer to that. This brings up, of course, the tired old adage: Someone who repeats the same behavior expecting a different result is...mentally challenged.
The unarguable fact is BF 2 is constructed how it is regardless of anyone's opinion of how it should, or should not be constructed. It's much like my car. I'm driving along in my car thinking of all SORTS of nifty stuff that would be SO cool to have, if only the manufacturer had thought of all these things BEFORE making the car. Problem is, what I imagine as I buzz along in my VW is a Ferrari. Gee, Volkswagen people, why didn't you make my car a Ferrari instead? Of course, when I ran that past the Volkswagen people, they replied, "Look, fool, if you wanted a Ferrari, you shoulda bought a Ferrari! Now, leave us alone, we're trying to design an SUV!" Wow. At first glance, they seemed kind of rude. IMAGINE them expecting me to pay $300,000 for a car that would only cost me $5000 if only they had thought to put in all the "right stuff"? But, in the end, reality wins out and I have to accept the fact that my poor wallet only had Volkswagen green in it, and that's the name of that tune.
It's quite similar to looking at your lunch money and realizing you only have enough for a hotdog and a coke. The guy hands you the hotdog, and you jump all over him because it coulda been filet mignon if he hadn't been so shortsighted - "Why not add a little Merlot with that, and an arugala salad while you're busy being as smart as I think you should be?" The simple fact is when I pick up a crescent wrench, I don't look at it thinking what a good philips head screwdriver it could have been..if only...
Now, I know that's a concept that is hard for some puny minds to wrap themselves around. That's not so surprising. It could be the lead in the water. It could be the sulphur dioxide in the air. Whatever it is, we all (or most of us) know there are quite a few people running around whose elevators don't quite reach the top floor - a few fries short of a Happy Meal - a few cards short of a deck. It's also apparent they don't quite realize this, because they are ALWAYS spewing forth telling everybody how things really ought to be.
For my purposes, and I'm sure for many others' as well, I play BF 2 the way it is actually constructed, and no matter how foully the longwinded blowhards blow, it will remain constructed so, and that's the game I'm dealing with, NOT the one these SPAMMERS imagine might be if only people would listen to them. And, because of this, when things happen with the game and I want to understand what the deal is, and I come to this forum to weed through the mountains of posts to find some useable information, I can't help but plot the mass murder of all these twits who just can't seem to get it through their pinheaded brains, that BF 2 HAS stats, and will ALWAYS have stats. I also know they won't ever fully realize that pounding their chests and hooting how horrible that is doesn't make a dime's bit of difference to anyone but themselves, and isn't all that interesting to read.
However, and this is where it gets interesting, for those more rational and mentally UNCHALLENGED among us, the truth is these SPAMMERS are indeed suffering from a.) lack of intelligence b.) severe self-esteem shortages and c.) a complete lack of understanding that no matter what they say about stats, we've heard it a thousand times already. It would be NICE if they'd just IGNORE posts with "STATS" in their titles. However, it would have been nice if Jeffery Daumer had found another hobby as well. Such is life.
