hmm that is strange, I guess you could try reloading the map

Do you have any background programs running that could be taking up resources?

Project Reality is very resource intensive. And Al Basrah lags a bit more than normal on my setup.

Which version are you playing? 0.5, or the new 0.607 RC1 beta?

The new map is a great deal less laggy.

Have you also thought about asking at the Reality Mod forums?

Al Basrah has been a map which has always required 2 gigs of ram.

You got to remember this is a huge map unlike all other vanilla and pr maps.

on ym gaming rig setup(dead now) with a 7600 gt and 1 gif ram i set it to all low so it was completley playable,i shudder to think how it would play right now on this rig with 512 mb of ram and a 5500 fx:shakehead: :shakehead:

Good for you, now if you don't have DDR2 and a processor with an insane clock speed you need 2 gig.

I could barely play Al Basrah before and now I have 2 gigs and I can play just fine.

Time for a small upgrade and make it your last one. DX10 is coming so get saving or no Crysis for you.

I'm just sayin'. Although sometimes it lags a small amount, I can play with 1 gig. Don't believe me, fine.

It lags sometimes a small amount because you don't have 2gigs, trust me I tried al basrah with different amounts of ram and 2gigs was only one which played perfect from start to finish with no lag.

I have done alot of opertization work on basrah for v0.6. It "should" run around abouts the same as a normal BF2 map now :)
