Title says it all.

I'm looking for a Star Wars based online multiplayer game...

I've seen a few people playing Jedi Knight II on my Xfire friends of friends playing; I couldn't find it at the store.

I checked out the site for it but I didn't find it very helpful.

So anyone play this? Or are there others? Maybe some due in the future ya'll might know about???

starwars battlefront 2 has no depth to it, and the maps are tiny.

The only purpose-built Star Wars multiplayer game, as has been stated, is Star Wars: Galaxies. Galaxies is a MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game [like WoW, as has been stated]). This means Galaxies features a number of persistent "worlds" (servers) will a large number of players. Combat is a part of gameplay, but the main focus is character customization. How you play is entirely up to you. Galaxies, however, is old and thus populated by high-level players. It is a flawed game, and I don't think its what you're looking for.

A number of people still play Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast online. Gameplay consists of combat with a number of Star Wars weapons, but everyone just uses lightsabers. Its like a massive lightsaber duel. Again, its an old game, and the player base has shrunk dramatically (read: good luck finding an playable server). Also, everyone (almost) who plays it is 1) highly skilled (as they've been playing for years), 2) hackers, and 3) absolute jerks. Two and three are almost always true. Keep in mind JK II is primarily a single-player FPS, with multiplayer as an added feature, not the centerpiece of development.

Next in the Jedi Knight series is Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy. I recommend picking this up for its awesome, awesome single player action. The multiplayer situation is the exact same as outlined above with JK II, with significantly more players online at a given time (but still, not many). Lag is a major, major problem with both Jedi Knight games. Regardless of your connection speed, you will be hard-pressed to find a playable server (unless, perhaps, you live close to or in a large city).

The Battlefront series (I and II) have online components (I have only played Battlefront II online). The Battlefront games are essentially Battlefield: Star Wars: character classes, vehicle action, cap points, tickets of a sort, even unlocks and awards in II. However, as someone said, everyone hacks. Also, these are console ports and have a veery "loooose" and "arcade-y" feel about them. Maybe that's what you're looking for, maybe not. Additionally, lag is a major problem.

So if you're looking for an undoubtedly GOOD online SW experience, you're outta luck. But you could try the above games, if you're willed to severely compromise. Hope that helps!

P.S. I think that the SW RTS games, Empire at War and the much older Galactic Battlegrounds have multiplayer components, but thats a whole different animal.

I bought Battlefront 2.
Not many servers to play on. It wasn't really what I expected. I wanted more light saber duels but you have to get a certain number of points before you are able to use a character with the Force. There's a map called, Mos Eisley which is comparable to 24/7 Karkand IO's. It's all Force characters and high tickets. Everytime I join one of these servers, I get TK'd numerous times, or I get booted after killing my first enemy. I don't get it.

I like the singleplayer option more than multiplayer for Battlefront 2, I think.

I saw SW Galaxies and SW Jedi Knight II at Best Buy tonight. I haven't decided what to do yet.

Get Jedi Academy. It probably has the best lightsaber-dueling system up to date.

Skyhawk is definitely right, if its lightsaber combat you want, JA is the answer. Sweet combo moves combined with Force powers make for some sick duels.

i bought galaxies and as a fan of star wars it had enough cameos to satisfy a wompa lol but anyways it was pretty good but it is flawed and it shouldnt be subscription no mmorpg should be i think thats just a way to perpetuate the industry's greed
